Default Question about Rome on Steam and mods

Is it possible to just copy the Rome folder in the Steamapps folder and paste it somewhere, install a mod there and play it that way? That would allow me to have several mods on at once without, as well as knowing that I can install a mod without having to worry whether or not I'll be able to remove it and still be able to install other mods there.

    Thanks

What you do is most mods have a program for installation and with this they can work around steam and what they do is make a new icon with the mod but what the use is mod:switch, http://rtw.heavengames.com/rtw/mods/...ch/index.shtml that is a link to RTW:haven where it explains how to use mod:switch only thing to mention is that with steam to use the mod:switch you need to go into your steam library, right click the rtw entry, choose properties, and then click on launch data and put the mod:switch there.

Also, this should probably be in the tech support sub-forum and not this one (Just posting this for future reference.)

No. If you move it from the steam directory, an error message comes up saying "cannot find steam" or something like that.

At least with steam, you can just validate the files, rather than having to reinstall.

If you have a look at RSII (here) there are some instructions there on how to play mods with a Steam install.

I presume there are other mods that have this - I'm only currently playing RSII...
