Honestly I don't like it, the conflict is not Samurai versus US army, so, why not putting instead a modern japonese soldier fighting for the japonese state?
About the flags in the backs of samurais, I am not a specialist but I am not sure that they had it in the 19th century. And... I think it will be better not to use again the same models for the samurais that we have already in shogun II. Players expect new uniforms, new eye candy uniforms, in the trailer there are not new.

Has it ever occurred to look at the bottom part of the cover art and note that the kepi hats worn have chrysanthemum insignia in them?
As for the appearance of the gaijin with the colt pistol.
Nah, its aye ok, its basically a trope whenever its about the Bakumatsu.
(Its clickable by the way....An S2 overhaul mod.)
Seriously. Click it. Its the only overhaul mod that's overhauling enough to bring out NEW clans
Masaie. Retainer of Akaie|AntonIII
I hope the soldiers at the bottom in the Imperial Army uniforms, complete with Chrysanthemum badges, means that the Imperial-aligned factions will fly the Imperial Chrysanthemum banner. That'd be neat. I'm tired of playing as random daimyo; I want to play as the Imperial faction.
Err . . . they did? Look at the bottom of the box art.
Look fine but I still would have prefer a French uniform instead of the american.
Specilly French uniform of this period were looking great ( dark blue with red pant )
despite that great artwork
I think it looks cool...especially the mutton chops.
I like how "requires internet connection" made it to the front of the box this time.
I admit it can be seen as a little misleading for those who would see it in a shop and think 'Oooo US vs Samurai!', but all they have to do is do a little bit of research into the game, even just read the back of the box, and they will realize it isn't like that. The only people who might be concerned are little kids who make their decision based solely on the cover of the box.
It wasn't USA vs Samurai, but let's face it that the main selling point of RoTS is the clash between Western technology and Japanese traditional fighting/culture.
