Rome Total War Gold product activation pops up every time

Hello,

I purchased Rome: Total War Gold a couple of weeks ago. Until recently, the product activation window popped up every time I tried to start the game. So I just put my cd key in a text file so I could get it easily. Now, though, it says ''Activation FAILED: Limit of Activations Exceeded". So now I'm completely locked out of the game. Does anyone know how to fix it? And besides, if I do get it fixed, I'll need a new serial..

Are we talking singlplayer or multiplayer?

Both, I can't enter the game at all.

For singleplayer, enter 1111-1111-1111-1111

For multiplayer, Contact Sega support. As old as the game is, odds are the code's been 'jacked.

For the ''1111-1111-1111-1111'' thing, you're referring to my CD Code, right? That doesn't work, it says ''limit of activations exceeded''. I got this because the product activation popped up every time I started the game, and I used my code about 15 times on the same computer...

I guess the question should be where did you get the game?

Maybe we can get it to work by uninstalling the game, deleting any trace of it, running a good registry cleaner, and reboot, before trying to reinstall.

I got it from Direct2Drive.

Then, you either to get a new code from Direct2Dive or Sega.

In the meantime, try a clean install and see if 1111-1111-1111-1111 works while you're installing.

Would a code be accepted but not stored on the PC due to account restrictions?

That is - is something set up as read-only so the key is lost every time the OP leaves the game?
