Awesome man.
Within 600 light years, we have discovered two earth-like planets in habitable zone. It looks like that the habitable planets are numerous in our galaxy.

A SETI project also is starting that will be targeting the Kepler planets.
You never know, there could be exciting times ahead.
Scientists y u no make warp drive?
Seriously though, that's a great discovery
Edit: Meh, article says it may be a gas planet...

It's not all that amazing. It's only got a similiar temperature and a remotely similiar size. I'd like to know what the ground is made of if there is one, and whether or not the air is breathable.
thumbs up
It should be our first space colony!![]()

"We're nice mainly because we're rich and comfortable."
Now we only need to develope spaceships that can travel in 300 times the speed of light and it will only take one year to reach that planet.

Or big spaceships that travel at or near the speed of light that can sustain life for 600 years
Of course, after those 600 years and however many generations of people living and dying on said spaceship, they could get there and find its a piece ofplanet with not much hope of life, or at least
lives.

We need more wormhole study!!! Then the universe shall bow to humans.
A more effective way would be to sample DNA from the would-be colonist here on Earth, and then grow their clones in incubators while in transit. Then upload memory from the original host to the clone as soon as the clone is "activated" when the ship arrives.
That we can make far more efficient spaceships that doesn't require the same amount of protection against cosmic radiation. Think of it as Jump Clones (like in EvE Online)

I hope we won't screw up that planet as well in the future.
But great find nevertheless! Maybe this will thrust more public interest to space programs again.

Wasn't there a planet similiar to earth like 20 light years away?
Important: Will 'What planet are you from?' finally become a serious question after Kepler is colonized?
Im sure we will work out technology to make close uninhabitable planets habitable before we can design a technology to reach one of these planets.
nah, guys, it's not earthlike, I've been there last month, it sucks, no water, no wine, no coke, just gas everywhere, and mosquitos with big cocks...well, actually some of you would enjoy it...
