Mod's are Modifications for the game. What they do is take the basic or "Vanillia" game and enhance it some way. There are a lot of mods out there, some modding it more towards historical, some modding it more towards game play and some in between. You just have to download them and try them out to see if you like what people have done.
It is best if you make multiple copies of your game first if you want to try more than one mod at a time (I have 5 copies of RTW 1.5, 3 copies of RTW 1.2 and 4 copies of BI 1.6 all on my PC at once so I can play with more than one mod at a time).![]()

Download a mod at school, put it on a memory stick and install it at home. Ta-da! Problem solved.Originally Posted by thelastspartan
The only thing visual between all the differnet mods out there at the moment (I'm not counting some of the different era mods) will be different unit skins, additional units or a different map. Most of the mod work is "behind" the scenes or the txt files modifications.
If you want to see some screen shots or futher explanations of all the different mods, just go to the Total War Center Mod Supported page: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=141 and you will see far more that I can write here.

This link goes to where some modders ask questions or show off some of their work that isn't always in a single mod.

Oh and thelastspartan, go with what Flogger said and download the mod. files onto a memory stick then take it home, once you have the files for a mod, you won't need to access the internet to play the mod.
