A new book came out in March 2011, The Land of Painted Caves.

Great, awesome series by Jean M. Auel.

The first book, The Clan of The Cave Bear, was released back in 1980.
It's about the Cro-Magnon girl Ayla, who is left homeless and orphaned at a very young age. She is found on the verge of death by a group of Neanderthals, called the Clan. They save her life and the book tells the story of how she grows up in the Clan.

Anyway, I read these books(the first 5) a couple of years ago since I was bored and my mom suggested them. I LOVED THEM! I've read them thrice now and finally got the series last sunday. I'm now joyfully working my way through the 3rd book, The Mammoth Hunters, and I'm eagerly waiting for the chance to start on the last book since I haven't read that yet.

So anyone else read them? Loved them like me maybe? If you haven't read them then I can only recommend that you do. I was very sceptical myself the first time but I can assure you, they are VERY good.

So, what do you guys think about these books?

I think I might have read the first one at some stage, but I wasn't aware it was necessarily part of a series.

This is the thing that's been keeping me from playing Skyrim this week.

The first two were good. The third felt like prehistoric melodrama with heavy sexual overtones(and yeah, as in most cases the black guy loses. I mean he's stacked to lose - no blond hair, no strong jaw, no blue eyes, no third leg, not that good in bed. Plus he's an artist.). I mostly enjoyed the fourth, but the last was... brrr.
