Default RTW Best Buy without CD-Key?

Bought RTW Best Buy years ago and now, when i tried online play it says that logon failure - invalid CD-key, problem is, that it never asked any cd-key, nor there is any key on case and it had no manual or paper notifications. Just case and CD. So, basically i bought a game without online possibilities whatsoever? Is there any options for victims like me?

We can't help you with the lack of CD-Key. You need to go back and contact the original seller - or buy another game and make sure that had a CD-Key in it.

It is against the ToS to ask for ways to circumvent the lack of a CD Key - it's also against the ToS for anyone to provide details on how to do so.

Contact Sega support with copies of the sales slip, box, case, and whatever else came with it and they may issue you one.

As you wrote that you bought the game years ago i guess you won't have the sales slip kept somewhere beside you.

If you are really eager to play RTW online - RTW + BI is available nowadays for a price between €5 to €10 and Alexander
expansion should be at a price of €5.

Are you positive there is no code on the box because on another forum someone thought that then learned that there was a steam activation code on the box and they could get the serial from that.

Your personal CD-key should actually be in your registry.

Press your start key + R and then type "regedit" in the box that should come up. A new window should pop up. Next, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/The Creative Assembly (or Activision depending on what version of RTW you have)/RomeTW. On the right side, your CD-Key should be displayed.

If i remember correctly it will only be there once you'e entered it ingame.

I once noticed that on my GF's laptop where i installed an old copy of rtw which i got on a secondhand
market. I entered the cd-key which came with it but i couldn't get online with it - "wrong cd-key".

I then took the cd-key of another copy and could go online with it.

All the while i've also been looking at the registry entry and the cd-key there was changed after i entered
    the working one ingame.
