    Default Animations not rebuilding

    I have made some changes like described in a tutorial here...
    Now I try to rebuild these four anim files I deleted and the game crashes telling my it did not find the animdb!
    These changes... I did not create the code by myself... I copied it from some thread and I think the code should be ok as if I put mistakes there intentionally the game crashes because of them... like no entry in models.db.

    My question:
    What do I have to do to rebuild the animdb?
    As I know I have to delete :
    pack.dat
    pack.idx
    skeleton.dat
    skeleton.idx
    Not only in the mods folder but in the gameīs main folder also!

    After that I go to the .cfg file and add

    no_animdb = true
    This .cfg file... Which one? I think that I have to add this into the mods cfg file...
    In my example this would be (as I am modding Stainless Steel) /mods/SS6.3/default.cfg

    Itīs there! But the crash occurs anyway! The file is used also as the tracing option for the .log file works...

    Does the log not state an error, and say which file is missing?

    Do you have all the animation files for SS in the mod's animation" folder? What do you have in that folder?

    The error message is about "animdb" not beenig loaded...
    I will come back later and give you the answers to your questions... post the log file and a screenshot of the animations folder!
    I did not mess with animation files ( exept these 4 ) as I know a about animations... It should be in the original state...

    I did forget to bring the model.db code... but it is there and seems to work!

    I believe your problem is that you don't have the unpacked animations in your mod's "animations" folder. In order to rebuild it you have to have the full animation databse unpacked, it's slightly or very different with different kind of mods.

    Do you see anything similar like this when you open your mod's "animations" folder?

    I'm having the same problem. Been trying to add broken crescent javelin elephants and elephant archer to stainless steel. whenever I delete the originals and start the game CTD happens here's the error log.

    As well as deleteing the pack files from the mod, you also have to remove/rename them in the vanilla folder.

    I did that.

    Solved the problem. It was not made clear that you had to put the released animation files and folders "all of them" for vanilla medieval 2 in the vanilla animation folder and that would regenerate the files for mods , which i was regenerating for. I thought I had to put just the files I extracted from stainless steel back in stainless steels' animations folder.

    Also any files missing from descr_skeleton but in the animation file will cause a crash and any files in the descr_skeleton but not present in the animation file will also cause a crash. Alls working honkey dorey now.

    You can also put the unpacked animations in your mod\data\animations folder + your own animations + edited descr_skeleton.txt. After that launch your mod to regenerate a new packed animation set ensuring of course that vanilla animations are also missing because the game rechecks over there as well, like eothese stated.

    Anyways glad that you got it fixed.

    Ok now i'm trying to add elephant bowmen and archers and I get this error message,

    Put the parent as bowman , works now.
