    Default Dealing with bad trait

How are you suppose to deal with character that develop "Interloper". It seem like every time i place a governor to a newly conquest city.. this trait pop up. Even if i buy a mercenary general of that region they develop trait that incite rebellion and limit their management.

Also, is there a way to shorten the "distance from capital" in your far off provinces?

First off, the 'Interloper' trait isn't random, you caused it by placing your family member into a city with a Type IV government. Never, EVER, put your FM into a Type IV government city unless you do it for a turn or two (waiting for your hired general to fully form, for example). When you conquer a city, install a Type III government instead, reserving the Type IV for the big cities with an already developed infrastructure or if you wish to recruit the Regional units. If you do use a Type IV government, you don't necessarily need an administrator in it, leaving it with a diplomat can be enough (so it can't be bribed). If the Unrest levels are too great, then you hire a recruited general, make him the administartor and he will keep the peace.

Important: don't put your recruited general in a city without the Type IV government or you will get the 'Interloper' trait as well.

Important: make sure you don't put your recuited general out of the city during that turn when it says 'his path must be chosen now' or something similar. If you do, he will not be a governor but a general instead and he will have significantly worse traits for a governor. You can change the general back into a governor but you have to reinstall the government type all over again, costing you another 2 turns.

There are two ways to optimize the 'distance to capitol' problem. One: put your capitol into the geometrical center of your empire, so the distance is as right as possible. Two: make your empire smaller. No one said you need to conquer the whole world. If you do, distance to capitol is the price you pay.

Boriaks reply is full of good advice. Although I am not sure how acceptable "make your empire smaller" will be, despite it obvious effectiveness! I am a fan of the Arche Seleukeia and so well aware of the problems you ask about. So I would add that what you build in your newly conquered city is also pretty key. But before that make sure you demolish all the buildings that will not support your faction. Then build those that reinforce public order; temples to your gods, particularly those with law bonuses, festivals, games, trading colonies etc. Also garrisons should be built, these were specifically added to the building trees as a compensation for the increased distances from the capital in EB compared with RTW. In addition you should check the traits of your governors, some are particularly good in specific geographical areas because of their own Persian, Syrian, Hellenic, Illyrian etc. background, and that can help a lot. It can also be a good idea to transfer some appropriate advisors to him too. I spend quite a lot of time moving advisors around between FMs, maximising the military ones with my army commanders and the trade and order ones with governors, it all helps.
Finally if you do end up with an "Interloper" move him, swop him with a governor in an area that better suits his traits and background.

Ancilleries, if you have two characters in a settlemnt/stack then just drag and drop the ancillery you want to move to his portrait.

Trading ancillaries is in the base game.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.
