    Default Most accurate

So overal, which Mod is the most historically faithful and large in scope? I'm currently playing TE 4.0 but that's just to practice for a potential slot in the upcoming Succession game. I was eyeing RTR but there are so many I feel overwhelmed (DarthMod, SPQR, etc.) I know I can go to a thread and read the one-line descs, but I want to get some player input.

Well my pick for the most historical accurate mod is EB, no other mod comes even close IMHO.
Check out the EB sub forum here.

I don't which is actually the most realistic, but RTR has to be up there. ITs has very good gameplay, and huge map to conquer, so much stuff that makes it number 1 IMO. Check it out here

I've never downloaded another mod, but the one that appeals the most to me is EB. Perhaps I'll download a version of it when I've completed my own project.

    Cavvie:
If you want the best varity for RTW Gold, RTR Platinum is now for RTW 1.5 unlike EB that is still for 1.2. You could say that RTR is a precuser to EB because it uses a lot of AOR (area of recrument) units and mercenaries which is simular to EB and all it's various units. True, EB's units are better looking, but the concept is still the same.

If you want the best combat, use SPQR 6.1, because it comes the closest to real battles (duration) versus some of the other mods.

EP 4.0 is another good all around mod the allows you to play two different factions in place of the Brutii anc Scipii.

All, in all, download all the various mods and try them till you find one you like.

Since you have the Gold Edition, I would suggest RTR 6 Platinum, which runs on Rome Total War 1.5 (which is the version of RTW that comes with gold edition, along with Barbarian Invasion 1.6)

EB is proabably the most historically accurate, but I tried it once and found it all rather confusing. So use RTR instead - I still find it playable and historical at the same time. Also there is no version of EB working with 1.5 - RTR Platinum does.

Thanks guys! I DLed RTR Platinum and was initially pumped but was really bothered (mentally and physically) by the blurring of my graphics. I may try it again or perhaps just wait until RTR 7.0. Until then, I'm doing a Bactrian campaign on TE4.0.
