Default HELP! Changing victory conditions for imperial campaign?

    Which file? What format?

I read through this thread: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=48807

but Lusted was unclear on which file and where he places such things as:
hold_regions ## and other triggers... I've tried messing with teh victory condition.txt file and no vicotry conditions show up for my faction when I do...

Please, DON'T SPECULATE if you DON'T KNOW... reply only if you know. I've already experimented a LOT and your speculations will only be for things I've already tried, I'm sure.

I said in my pm which file it is, this thred suggests you know which file it is, but you are not editing the victory conditions in the right way. What are you trying to set the victory conditions as?

And there was no need to create as many threads/pms about this as you did.

I'm trying to reduce to 40 the number of provinces the romans need to win. Pretty simply. Maybe you could simply post the exact line you use in RTW, not BI, that you used which works.

Nothing I've done to the victory condition file has changed the victory conditions for the romans beyond removing them completely.

Right, here is an example of the default victory conditions for the julii in 1.5:

    romans_julii
    imperator
    short_campaign outlive_factions
    gauls

And here they are from my mod:

    romans_julii
hold_regions Latium Syria Zeugitana Nile_Delta Attica Sicilia_Graecus Beribracia Aeduia Arvernia Macedonia
    take_regions 70
    short_campaign outlive_factions
    gauls

Notice the difference? If you want to give them a certain amount of provinces to take you will have to remove the imperator line and replace it with either hold_regions with specific provinces named or take_regions with a number of provinces or both.

Ok... this iis for RTW, *NOT* BI? When I tried the code you have in the descr_win_conditions.txt file, it crashes the game before I get to select which faction to play.

I removed the hold regions part and left in take_region ## and it loads but doesn't list any victory conditions. I change the ## to 3 for a quick test, and the game doesn't end when I take 3 cities.

There must be some other aspect that I'm overlooking or doing wrong.

Now, this sort of thing appears to work OK in BI, but the default format of that file reflects using those keywords.

ANyone else tried this and made it work in RTW (NOT BI), the Imperial campaign.

It does work in RTw i used it in my mod which is for RTW.

Then you must need to have hold_regions and take_regions in the file for it to work, and hold_regions must go above take_regions.

Lusted, do you have my email? Could you please email me your working file. I copy/pasted exactly what you have above and ensured the formatting was as you state. It just doesn't work for me... is there anything else to it- another file? Soemthing I should to the strategy file maybe?

    Ok, got it working.

The regions listed in Lusted examples are not in the vanilla map, so they crash.

You need to have hold_regions AND take_regions as he said but unlike in his example, make sure they EXIST on the map.

    thanks.

Well i did say taken from my mod, and my mod uses a new map, so yes it would need to be with the default provinces.
