Default 650 AD - 950 AD [on BI]

The mod is going to start in 650 AD and ends in 950 AD, simply 300 years, about the same amount of years that Vanilla RTW has. With 4 turns per year. That would be more then enough. Mod would be run on the BI engine.

Why 650 AD? Well, lots of things happen by that time. On the East a new superpower, known as Rashidun Caliphate expanded from Arabia Peninsula and took some Romani and Ērānshahr lands. They also brought new religion – Islam. Yazdegerd III of Ērānshahr tries to save his almost defeated state. (A real challenge to experienced RTW players! Would you be able to pull back the invaders?) On the West there is bloody confrontation between Anglo-Saxon, Irish and British kingdoms. Mierce and Northumbria are ready to wipe out each other and figure out who is the real Bretwalda. Oswiu will fight with Penda “the Kingslaughter” himself! Exotic Samo kingdom, Avars... Also Khazar Khaganate, which IRL would be a regional superpower till 11th century, is at war with Arabs. And do not forget about upcoming Vikingr invasions and emerging Russ state.

    Factions:

    Roman

    1) Basilea ton Rhomaion (yeh, there were no such term as "Byzantine Empire")

    Arabian-Norht-African

    2) Arab Chalifate
    3) Mauri

    Nomad

    4) Khazars
    5) Avars
    6) Bulgarians
    7) Magyars

    West Barbaric

    8) Franks
    9) Visigoths
    10) Lombardians
    11) Dal Riata

    Northen European

    12) Mierce
    13) Nortumbria
    14) Dena (Danemark)
    15) Sweeden

    East European

    16) Samo (Slavic kingdom in West Europe)
    17) Rus (Emerging)

    Eastern

    18) Remnants of Eranshahr (Sassanids remnants)
    19) Hayastan (Armenia)

    20) Eletheroi aka Rebels aka Slave faction aka Free people. Vikingr’s invasion are going to be presented by them as well.

    Faction map (approximate borders)

    Cultural map

    It should be fun.

lolIsuck, Med2TW is more time consuming for modding, I don't know if it is possible to play for hording factions there. Switching religion was solved in some Kingdoms add on, but I don't have any experience in modding Med2TW. It is possible to achieve good performance in BI as well.

hameleona, nice to hear that, hope you would be able to help

Its really all up to him. Frankly, Rome TW BI IS easier to mod than Medieval 2, pretty significantly. Furthermore, Rome TW BI has the 'nomadic faction' feature, which seems like a very good thing to have considering the number of nomadic factions in this mod. That being said Medieval 2 does allow for more factions, and he could include some more factions in there (ie the Basques, a faction i think would be pretty awesome to see), as well as the whole Papal feature, since the Pope was very influential during this timeframe, in some ways even moreso than he was during Medieval times....

Anyways if he can do any modding himself then he very much has a right to choose which game his mod will be for, if hes one of those 'i dont know how to mod but id like to see this....' type people (which i know hes not) then that would be a different story

@OP I would advise giving Sassies Merv, Bukhara and Hyrcania as well, not just Kushan.

    |Sith|5|DarthLazy, this mod depicts the World in 650 AD, and in 650 AD there was RC. What would happen with it later on, depends only on you as a player, you can lead it to the glory, or burn it to the ground.

Blatta Optima Maxima, thanks for the advice. I think deeper research in map is needed coz Arabs spread very fast and every year brought some changes in the regional ownership.

Though, I'm not a mapper, and the map is not a high priority. Units first.

Pazu the Kitsune, Basques would be really awesome faction, but I don't think there is enough information to provide them with a proper roster.

Anyway, there is still one faction slot left. Any ideas what should it be?

Are the Papal States in there? If not i think they should be, as an emergent faction under Roman culture

Regarding the regions - the Sassanids should have all their 650AD territory, since they lost it after a year anyway, and with only Kushan they would have collapsed already.
