Default Hoplites don't grow on trees

Okay, here's a complicated question and I really hope that someone can answer this. But first I must state a few facts. We all know that as a city in RTW gets bigger you can recruit better units. We should also know that if a city has less than 500+the unit size to be made that you can't recuit the unit. And lastly you may or may not know that Hoplites were from the middle and upper class. By today's standards a full metal hoplite kit would cost about $25,000 plus dollars depending on quality so only the upper class could afford it. But in RTW if you so chose you could turn and entire population of 35,000 into armored hoplites. What I want to know is if there is a way to make a kind of second population limit for certain units. Like not being able to recruit armoured hoplites if you have less than 12,160 citizens or perhaps make a certain percent of the population called "upper class" and you could only recruit such high standing units as armored hoplites from among their masses. Can any one answer this question?

That would be an interesting little feature, but it's unfortunately probably not possible. But if it were, same should hold true for equites.
Thank you for reading this assuredly fantastic post.

I imagine it is quite possible, although I dont have the coding "know how" to make this come to life. Still, suggest to some mods and maybe they will try and add it in - our modifications teams are where all of these breakthroughs occur. If it cant be done by one of them, then I doubt it ever will be

I see your point, but this can be represented by higher recruitment/maintenance cost. One could argue that the population index actually portrays the tier that could be recruited, not the population that works in service providing and trade.
