I haven't used that one myself but from memory it only fires during turn end. So it won't fire during a turn when the update actually happens, if that's what you're after.

Why not do the same via script?

for the obvious reason: there isn't a "factionStanding" command in the scipts.....

    Docudemons has it...

    Code:
      Identifier: set_faction_standing

      Parameters: faction, faction, amount

Description: Changes first faction's standing towards second faction.

Sample use: set_faction_standing England France -0.8

      Class: SET_FACTION_STANDING

hmmm strange... i had read the entire "command" sheet, but i missed that.... thanks! (+rep, when i can)

but, why the code i have in the descr_faction_standing doesn't work??? because this is not a "perfect" solution for the problem... eg. i have to write about 40 (yes, fourty..) lines of commands, instead of just two... + other problems that i will have to face....

SpyrosM91: My suspicion is that the ‘UpdateAttitude’ event may not work in the ‘descr_faction_standing’ file. If you want to change a faction’s standing with Catholic and Orthodox factions when they sign an alliance with the Pope, you should only need to do this:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Code:
    Trigger blahh
        WhenToTest FactionAllianceDeclared

        Condition TargetFactionType papal_states

        FactionStanding religion catholic 0.6
        FactionStanding religion orthodox -0.5

it doesnt work either..... but does it have anything to do with the fact that i'm forcing an alliance through scripting: "console_command diplomatic_stance byzantium papal_states Allied" ???

PS: in the commands of that style " FactionStanding target_faction normalise 1.0 20", what do the last numbers represent??

    Try:
    Code:
    Trigger blahh
        WhenToTest FactionTurnStart

        Condition DiplomaticStanceWithNewPope = Allied
        and I_EventCounter event1 = 1

        FactionStanding religion catholic 0.6
        FactionStanding religion orthodox -0.5
