Icon8 Things that make you rage

    All in the Title.

I'll kick us off- having a general/family member killed in riots really makes me rage.

I was playing M2TW vanilla today (yes, it sucks) as Venice when my Faction Heir/ Crsuading legend was killed in a riot. And before you say anything it was the first 'stage' of the riot- they were yellow then they rioted- in one turn.

    Anyway- What makes you rage?

I didn't know that the city could riot when they have yellow happiness, nor did I know that Generals could be killed. That sucks.

Unmotivated Backstabbing. For example, I had as Denmark a princess married to the Polish heir and my relations with Poland were pending between "excellent" and "very good". And then they suddenly declare war with me. Tried to get peace, but no matter what I offered it was considered "very demanding" although my reputation was only one under normal. Seriously, when I read history I can really see how fast diplomacy changes, which the diplocy in MTWII simply doe not allow. That's the biggest flaw in this otherwise excellent game in my opinion.

I had the same thing happen Britannia's Finest. My young General who captured Antioch on the Crusade was given the Crusader epitath was killed on the 1st turn of rioting that killed 143 peasants and 18 soldiers The other thing and I'm new to the TW series as is. I had my one army lead by a Captain with 1/2 of Hungary's army going to attack Zagreb. First turn move into rebel territory. End turn. Rebels turn my Captain goes rogue on me with 1/2 the flipping army. The only good thing was that army was a thorn in the side of the Venicetians for a while

Wouldn't that indicate that he was bribed by a diplomat?

When the AI decides mid battle to completely rearrange it's fighting line right in front of your troops (furthest right unit trades places with furthest left and so on and so forth) transforming their well arranged army into an easily flanked rabble.

When the computers merchants always beat yours.

Diplomacy. It's terrible, they should really introduce a EU style warscore system.

Reputation may be important, but I fail to see why the computer insists on declaring war on a nation 20 times it's size and power just because you have a reputation of being ruthlessly barbaric to your enemies. Seems like a real smart decision to me.

Needs emergent factions, cities should rebel a lot more, if Edinburgh or Inverness rebel then they become Scotland again.

Skirmish mode is retarded, they are meant to retreat when threatened not get caught with their pants down every god damn time.

Command stars should raise morale more.

Units should be able to upgraded to similar units in towns/castles, ie spear militia can be upgraded to armoured sergeants.

Generals should not be allowed to leave a crusade, this bugs me.

INQUISITORS SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EXECUTE KINGS OR ANY OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS FOR THAT MATTER.

Bishops don't rebel enough, would like emergent religious/different types of heresy, and they should be harder to suppress.

Enemy factions start a war with me, by attacking one of my settlements.

Pope then tells me not to make war, else face Excommunication.

sometimes, this results in the aggressor faction being exco'd and I take advantage with a swift crusade =) ... but ,

its a big downside of playing as a catholic, having that Papal muzzle on you.

This is not half as annoying as an assassin killing four of your top generals, including your faction leader, the new faction leader and your top two other generals, all within a few turns of starting an easy campaign.

The AI steadily pumping out full stacks of Militia + Catapults. At first it might be funny to annihilate that cannon fodder, but after a while it gets really annoying.

Every turn, leave the crusade with your general, then rejoin it, this means your troops never desert. Remember that this only works for the first 10 turns of a crusade because after that point you can no longer join the crusade.

Use a mixture of land/sea travel. I always travel south through France as England before I board a merc ship.

That's what I do too but from Denmark the shortest route is to Marseille, and that's enough for them to leave!

I really don't know why I never thought of that. Thanks

As Denmark, your crusade armies should take a route through the alps to the heel of Italy, or across the hungarian steppes to Greece.
Then you bord a mercenary ship there and sail the rest of the way.
Remember that a crusade army has to keep moving closer towards the crusade target - (assuming Antioch is the target) going straight south from Ĺrhus/Hamburg without moving slightly eastward will cause desertion, because your are not actually getting closer to the target.
It´s better then, to move into Hungary so as to ensure that your crusade army is getting closer every turn.

Now as for the OP, I abyssmally dread when I send potent armies to far away, important missions of conquest, only to have the entire army desert As Soon As They Get There!
Once, as Egypt, I sent the entire force that you have from the start westward to take Tripoli when this happened - without any access to any real soldiers because it was so early in the campaign, it took me like 30 turns to drum up a big enough force of revenge... And just imagine how limited my Levant conquests became because of that...

I also hate it when assassins miss their target despite having a 95% chance of success (same thing with spies and priests vs. heretics) as well as when the AI in the later part of the game starts pumping out armies with hardly anyhting other than artillery - I once had a battle against three such armies with almost only militia infantry in my forces.
It was like one of those trench battles in WW1, with my infantry just charging as quickly as they could while being bombarded by tons of flaming bombs (i still won, though, so it´s okay. My soldiers did an impressively brave job that day )

What makes me rage the most? The way AI acts. With one city and no armies remaining, they say (how they pronounce it) "Oi dee, Oy wount bekom thy vassall, Oy sholl foight to they enddahh."
The opposite situation is also frustrating. Crusade. Christian faction vs. Islam faction. What happens? The Islam faction starts spamming Imams and full stacks of units at your only foothold. You always win, since their troops are generally bad, but they force you fight a siege battle just like previous one every turn, they just never learn

1: When your crusading army, that's been sailing for several years, suddenly insta-desert as your (only) general is killed by an assassin. I know, human error, but it makes me rage.

2: Your level 10 merchant is killed by an assassin.

3: Your level 10 spy is killed by an assassin.

4: Your level 10 priest is killed by an assassin.

5: Your level 10 assassin is killed by an assassin. Who is a level 1 assassin.
