1300 killed or injured US soldiers during the year 2005 owe the amount of 1,5 million $ in military debts. All have been referenced in private credit bureau's.

Here comes the funny part:

Overpayment of pay and allowances (entitlements), pay calculation errors, and erroneous leave payments caused 73 percent of the reported debts. Remaining debts related to requirements to repay portions of enlistment bonuses and training due to early separation and/or failure to fulfill requirements; unpaid expenses for medical services, household moves, insurance premiums, and travel advances and lost or damaged military equipment.

And here comes the not so funny part:

Debt collection actions have placed significant hardship on separated GWOT battle-injured soldiers and their families. For example, the Army’s failure to record separation paperwork in the pay system and other payment errors resulted in over $12,000 of debt for one severely battle-injured soldier. Although the soldier’s family expected that he would receive retirement pay when his active Army pay stopped upon his separation, the soldier had no income for several months while the Army attempted to recover his military debt. As a result, the soldier’s family was unable to pay household bills, the utilities were shut off, and the soldier’s dependent daughter was sent out of state to live with relatives.

Insensitive pricks. Soldiers are horrifically injured or killed in wars the government sent them out to fight, and in return, the government wants THEM to pay back their debts. They should try paying back their own debts before sapping money from soldiers, who are already living near the poverty line as it is.

US soldiers should be saying this, "I fought and sacrificed in helping to defend this country from our enemies, and this is the thanks I get for doing that. Now...pay up ****ers!"

It happens because of a bloated and overly large bureaucracy that is any govt. office and the Pentagon is no different.
The problems should be fixed as soon as possible and the robots running the system should apologize for doing this when they knew what they were doing was wrong.

I don't know if any of you saw it, but a few weeks ago there was a ruckus about some soldiers being charged for body armour that was damaged/destroyed by insurgent attacks. My understanding was that once it became public the practice was "knocked in the head."

Ugh, good lord, I want to know WHO is ordering for soldiers to pay for their own injuries antheir own body armor, so I can go and picket outside their office buildings myself. This is disgusting and should be a much bigger issue than it currently is, imo, mistreating our soldiers should be a thing of the past but it so apparently isn't, business types have no sympathy for who they screw.

Speaking on this as well, it was almost impossibly to get my dying uncle into the VA. He served in all the bloodiest naval battles in WW2, had to deal with kamikaze and things such as that and they REFUSED him! That is literally an insult. He NEVER did actually get in and now hes dead, why? Because the government is non stop cutting VA benefits, the murderers.

HELL they are even removing the pentions and other benefits for people who seved a while as well. Saying you can't collect until your over 60.

And they are pro troop, pfft. More like anti-troop, only pro when your serving in iraq, even then that is a streach. IDK how people can support these traitors in the white house. Calling them pro-troop is an INSULT to anyone in the military.

these soldiers are in a war tehy will get shot equipment will get damaged

i am currently serving in teh swedish armed forces and i have lost equip but our officers ususally force us to "work it off" usually but working out one guy in my platoon lost his helmet so now he has to run a marathon before his military service is over he has 7 months left

as fore medical are they crazy it like telling teh soldiers its better not to fight rhater they should hide adn run away everytime somebody shots att them to avoid medical expenses

if the american people let this continue i have to say my respect for america as a country will sink like a stone

Is there any way to find out who makes diabolical plans like those into reality?There needs to be ramifications to whom ever decided to start charging our wounded for miltary expenses incurred by military duties. I propose random acts of violence and blanket parties for all involved. This really burns my sense of honor. The kind of way I get when I see a guy hit a girl, and I feel like war on specific politicians is justified.
