No one has a Swiss submod out for SS- I think some other mods have included a Swiss faction. The best I could do to play the Swiss was migrate Scotland to Bern and use the mercenaries with Scotland's roster to pretend Swiss. It wasn't very satisfying and one of the reasons I decided to make a Renaissance submod.

The faction itself actually doesn't exist. Switzerland doesn't exist as a faction, but they do exist as mercenaries and rebels.

Edit: And now that I've reread your question, I might've been off at first. If you want to include them yourself you can try, there's still a faction slot open on clean 6.4 so ask around for help if you're interested in trying to make one yourself .

Actually, there are 2 slots unused .

Oh yeah that's right. But, if you do indeed make a new faction or two you'll need to delete some units as popovic has done in his Serbia faction sub-mod. The unit slots have been filled unfortunately

I recently heard some interesting speculation about the swiss regarding the Knights Templar. I guess a lot of armies would pillage and raid that region from time to time. Well shortly after the French King gets the Pope to denounce the Templars, a lot of them go into hiding into spain and the other regions, presumably with the swiss. Well, a raiding force (not sure which country it was) goes into the region and suddenly the local peasant rabble are well organized and using advanced military tactics, pike formations and what not and rout the superior force. They said that Templar knights trained the swiss in military tactics and banking, which had been banned by the Pope, with exception for the Templars who had a system in place to hold money for pilgrims to the Holy land in order to prevent them from being robbed along the way. I dunno how credible it is, but it all makes sense as the Swiss are renowned for their banking system.

Not very credible. Swiss were very few and Templars would have stood out very much. Also the Swiss system was in place for awhile and in the early battles it could almost be called lucky. As time went by Swiss improved their training and systems and the battles they won weren't a matter of luck anymore.

Swiss banks developed centuries after Templars.
