    Default [solved] papal_states coding problems (!!!)

    A) i want to add this guy to the papal states:

    Code:
    character    Niccolus Corrigarius, general, male, age 36, x 96, y 141
    army
    unit        SE Bodyguard                exp 3 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit        Mailed Knights                exp 1 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit        Papal Guard                exp 3 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit        Papal Guard                exp 3 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit        Papal Guard                exp 5 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit        Papal Guard                exp 5 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    but the problem is that if i add him, then the campaing doesn't start, and i return to the main menu...

    1. the log doesn't show any error about that
    2. the units are valid
    3. the coordinates are valid

    B) i try to place a rebel army [in the descr_strat], inside the only city (it's also vacant) that the papal_states have.... Rome.... the thing is that if i place the rebels next to the city, they appear... if i place them directly on the (vacant) city, they don't.... the city remains vacant and under the control of the Papacy.... what is the problem here??? how can i start the game with the pope not having a single region...???

    appreciate any help...

    OK, that won't be a problem then

    Are you using
    [log]
    to = logs/system.log.txt
    level=*script* trace

    So there is one only way. You need to make it again. Restore old version of your descr_strat and add this army again. Do not copy it. Make it tetter by letter.

    a few ideas....

    1st: try and change the name to something else, if it works with a new name then you should check all the names files (data\text\names.txt, data\descr_names.txt, data\descr_names_lookup.txt ) to make sure the names exist in every one...or you can try the names verifier in this thread...

    2nd: check your spacing, i had this happen to me once and it turned out that i had one word off by one space and it would ctd back to main menu....

    3rd: try deleting the bodyguard unit, i'm not sure but i think you can only have bodyguard units for named characters....

    a few suggestions to try...hope it helps mate....good luck

    I'm not sure about descr_strat but campaign_script requires a tab after the unit name, not spaces.

    The bodyguard could be it though. I'd be interested to hear if that was the cause.

    If the city belongs to the papal states then small wonder that you can't put another faction's army in there. Even if it's vacant.

    Could you remove that city from papal state ownership in descr_strat? Give it to the rebels instead. I don't know if that would cause problems.

    removing it in descr_strat should work but only if the papal_states has the hording ability...also i was recently playing around with this stuff too and by accident i forgot to remove a settlement from a faction and tried to put my army in it and i would get a crash back to main menu...when i figured it out and switched it it worked just fine....also if you try to put someone else army in a settlement already occupied you'll get a crash as well...might be some ideas to look at SpyrosM91

    it probably must have been the bodyguard.... because i copied a new entry from the vanilla, and there wasn't any... i wonder how to SS6 didn't have any problem with that...

    anyway... i removed Rome, anf gave it to the rebels, and there wasn't any problem...
