    Default Changing Unit Size

Recently, I've tried to modify the unit size of the Imperial First Cohort of Rome in order to make it more realistic, yet, when I run the game the changes don't seem to have an effect. And, then, when I open export_descr_unit again the unit size is just what I changed it to. I've read somewhere that it is difficult to alter unit sizes in the Europa Barbarorum mod, but can that really account for this? What can I do to solve this problem? My thanks to any solution.

The txt file gets overwritten every time you launch the game. The file you want to be changing is in the Single Player folder, I believe.

Personally, I think it's not possible to make anything in EB more realistic than it already is. The size of Roman units is at it was: a century had 100 men, of which 20 were non-combatants. Ergo, 80 men per unit stsanfing on the battlefield.

The Imperial First Cohort, along with the Praetorian and Urban Cohorts were larger than the regular Imperial cohorts. In fact, an Imperial First cohort numbered about 800 men, as opposed to the normal cohort size of 480 and the Praetorians and Urbans each numbered a thousand. Although such numbers would be impossible in the game, I, at least, wish to fix the size ratios between units.

The evidence that a legion's first cohort was composed of 5 centuries of 160 men is based almost entirely on the allocation of living space in the excavated legionary fortress at Inchtuthil in Perthshire. However, this fortress dates only to about 85 AD (out of the EB time frame) and there is no clear indication that this organization was standard throughout the empire.
