    Default Need help with PFM

So this is a bit of a mystery to me. I've edited files with PFM before from Medieval 2 on and I've edited shogun 2 files with it when the game first came out and everything worked fine. Basically I decided to play the game again and went to editing some things, but my changes aren't showing up in game at all. I'm using 1.6.7 with the updated DB files, I can open patch 10 and that's the file I'm using. I'm saving it to a movie file and it's being saved in the data directory. I'm only editing unit stats, unit stats land and the buildings files. I even tried using the file names in the user script file. Nothing has worked (also yes I try it in a new game). There aren't any old packs from my previous install as I manually deleted any folders left after I uninstalled it the last time and this was a fresh install of the game. It's very strange, because as far as I know I'm doing everything correctly and this method worked before. What's funny is I just installed darthmod and edited some files in it to test and the changes show up, but when I make my own pack files nothing works before and after darthmod was installed. Also to note if I add a file to darthmod like the buildings file I was trying to edit that wasn't originally in the pack (any files originally in there I alter take affect in game) it wont work.

How do you know it is not working? I have "heard" that the information displayed in the in-game encyclopedia is static text, so it does not update when you change the stats in the database. You would have to find the static text and update that as well, and there is no way to check if the static text matches the stats in the database. To me, that seems like a poor approach, but I have not tested it myself.

Try setting the stats to a ridiculously high value, and see if it makes any actual effect in the game.

Thanks for the response. Generally the way I test units is I start a custom battle and include the unit in my army, with the buildings I load the full game. I've already tried setting it super high :/ Just really really weird. When I edit the stats in darthmods file everything work fine but I can't get it to work with my vanilla pack files.

I'm not sure how Darthmod is installed, but if it requires you to edit your user.script file (or does so during installation), you'll have to remove the changes from the script file for the game to read the vanilla files again IIUC.

Got it working. I don't know how I did the same thing I've been doing *shurgs* I guess it decided to work. I'm wondering if it had anything to do with the fact I didn't have the sengoku unit pack and ikko ikki dlc. I just got them and as soon as I did it started working. Strange.
