add a new name for a family.

I want to change the name of the Plantagenet family to Wessex for example, I added the name Wessex to descr_names and descr_names_lookup files and then modified all the Plantagenet names in the strat file.

Everything seemed fine but when I run the game as new campaign with England the family tree has vanished but only the FL is at the top I have attached a picture to this post, I was able to adopt in the first turn and this did appear on the family tree. Can anyone please advise me as to what I missed. TY in advance.

While writing this post I just checked out the Text folder and added Wessex in the names.txt file. I did notice a .bin file with the same name do I need to modify this? and or would it be easier to lose a existing name by leaving the label and renaming for example {Aba}Aba would become {Aba}Wessex? something tells me its not going to be as simple as this lol

Please disregard this post now I have figured it out. When I put the family names in the strat file I put them lower case. As Edward wessex and not Edward Wessex. The family tree is now displaying normally with my new family tree.

Just throw out the old bin file and a new one will be generated with your added info.

that's very good to know know ty. Can you tell what is the purpose of the .bin file? are they just back ups?

No they're not backups but actual files that are read by game engine.
