[Hotseat] Another kind of Hotseat - Westeros Alliances and Rebels

Love Westeros Total War? Love the idea of playing a human but just wish they moved faster? Want to play more than one turn a day?

Another kind of Hotseat is your cake then. In this hotseat, a minimum of 3 dedicated players are needed to lead alliances, not just factions to the Iron Throne.

Player 1 will control the Starks and the Tully’s both.

Player 2 will control House Joffery and House Lannister both.

Player 3 will control House Tyrell and house Renly both.

That is the basics of the game. The idea being with just three dedicated players, the game can be swapped back and forth for much faster game play. Now instead of a round taking several days, you could possibly have several rounds in a day.

Obviously each individual game can be customized as the three see fit. Do you want computer controlled factions for Greyjoy, Dorn, Arryn, and Stannis? Or do you want Admin control for book like actions?

The possibilities are limitless when you have only three players.

Well between the three of us we have a game. We just need to work out the particulars.

I am fine with Stark and Tully if Hannibal wants Lannister and Joffery.

What of the other factions? Would you guys want them computer controlled or do you want them to act like in the books under admin control? Also do either of you have anything else you would like to add to the scenario?

Disabling the console should be obvious. Well the Arryns did not do much in the books and it is the same with the Martells. That only leaves the Greyjoy's and Stannis both of which could be used by a fourth player.

nah, doesnt make sense to give them both to one player, also defeats the purpose of having three only.

id say all other be played by the admin, sticking to lore.

Tempted to shotgun admin, however that a) has me in all three hotseats which is pretty greedy and b) if the point of this is speed, the minimum 6 hour timezones between me in the UK and you guys whom I believe are all American doesn't really mesh well :-(

Well I am from the UK too so we have the same timezone.

I am in the United States. Those in the UK are 5 hours ahead of me, and those in Germany are 6 hours ahead of me.

So it is currently 3pm here which makes it 8pm in UK and 9pm in Germany. On weekends this wont be a problem at all. On weekdays, I will do everything I can to not make it a problem. Work obviously will get in the way a bit, but I am self employed and have a lot of freedom. So I dont see it too much of an annoyance.

That said. A 4th to be mod would be great! If need be a player can be Mod just because what Stannis and Greyjoys will do has already been determined. Stannis will go for Kings Landing and Greyjoys will attack the North.

I am fine with being Starks and Tullys. If Danscall wants to jump in as the Mod I am all for that, if not I can be mod and fight Hannibal and myself lol. Finally if everyone is cool with this, we can start once everyone says they are ready. If Danscall wants to be the mod, send him passwords. If not send them to me and we can get going.

I'd quite like to pop in as the mod actually yes. I wouldn't want to play in a hotseat with so few players, but I'll gladly run the "Sticking to Canon" houses.

Great. I don’t think it is unreasonable to assume that Martin would be cool with this. He also wanted the control hud disabled. I don’t care either way, but tend to think that if it makes it easier for the mod, then let it stay.


As for Shadow babies. I vote to stick them to cannon, but to determine if it can ever happen, Stannis needs to get his hands on Kings Blood. So in other words. Stannis can only call a Shadow Baby in the game if he can successfully kill a faction leader or heir in battle. So if he takes Kings Landing and kills Joffery, he gets a free Shadow Baby to use.


Also I suggest we follow the same rules of the other hotseat. We go VH/VH and auto resolve.


Other than that, let the game begin. All three of us send our passwords to Danscall. Dan, once you get all three of our passwords, create the game and post the first round, which should be Lannisters here for Hannibal to start.

well. melisandre stated she stopped creating shadows because it was draining stannis (go figure.....), because we could limit it to twice, like in the books?

the admin could also add negative traits, like loss of HP, per console.

thats possible by disabling console, but setting an admin pass in the cfg file.

im fine with the rest.

COncerning the Greyjoys and Stannis I had another idea for them that may make it more interesting.
What if we made their Islands unattackable and kept them to raiding random places along the coast?

Eh, I think just treat them however. If it ends up being the case that they get overwhelmed, sort of so be it. That is, after all, basically what would have happened if they'd been invaded in the books.
