Pike phalanx glitch

Whenever I attack an enemy with my Macedonian phalanx such as spartan hoplites, they seem to be able to kill my guys without even getting past the pikes.

EDIT: I have Alexander BTW, but this never happens there.

What do you mean? Are you playing as Macedon and who are you vsing?

Spartan Hoplites, they drop their spears and somehow kill without touching my guys.

first , i dont understand one thing .
i assume that 'macedonian phalanx ' means u are playing as macedonia and train phalanx pike . However , spartan hops and only be trained by greek cities .. u cannot mix .

huh ?

he is macedon and he trains phalanx pikemen
the enemy is the GCS and he trains spartan hoplites

Seriously? It wasn't that difficult to figure out. His phalanx-men are getting killed even though they are not being touched.

I don't know the mechanics involved, but if the only enemy unit able to do that are phalanxes as well, my gues would be the game is coded to "think" both units pikes are the same length; ignoring other scripting in the process. I don't know a fix for this, or if it's even the problem. Good luck, maybe someone will get over themself and their obsession with grammer, and help you.
