    Default Good Gaul/Spain army

Can somebody tell me a good Gallic or Iberian army for mp. I need more help with Spain than Gaul, but i wouldn't mind a little help for gaul too. Thanks in advance.

First of all, Gaul and Spain are the worst factions in the game. So don't be discouraged if you lose against higher tier factions like Rome or the Seleucid Empire. I'm going by 15k cwb rules btw. So if you wanted another rule set I apologize.

With Gaul, you generally have 2 options. Either to rush with numerous infantry + barbarian noble cavalry or to skirmish with Forester warbands (long range archers) and some barbarian noble cavalry. I'm not too experienced with this faction so I'll leave others to discuss it.

With Spain, it's best to skirmish with your opponent with 8 slinger units(variations of regular and balearic slingers). You should use the longshield cavalry and scutarii to support. I don't recomment bull warriors, as they are too expensive to really use.

    So:

    6 g/g long shield cavalry
    6 g/g scutarii
    4 g/- balearic slingers
    4 g/g regular slingers.

It might be beneficial to bring 6 g/g slingers and 2 g/- balearic slingers instead. That way you can put some experience upgrades on the frail scutarii. It all depends on what your opponent brings, however.

Thanks man. It really helped. I know that those two are the worst factions, otherwise i wouldn't ask for help on how to use them.
Anyway I've beat once Parthia using a gaul rush army, but only because my opponent made a few mistakes and the map had snow. Thanks again for the tips, and yep i needed armies for 15k cwb. I'll test this army right now.

I've always wondered why barbarians get a bonus in the snow when half of them don't wear shirts.

    Best army is gaul.
    Here it is....

    3 generals bodyguard

The idea is you just run around the field until your opponent ragequits.

Yeah that really defies all laws of physics . JK, the truth is that presumably barbarians are used to fight in snow, due to the cold temperatures their homelands offer. It would be more realistic if they wore some shirts tough.

Nobody asked for an army that can beat full stacks of preatorians, urbans and cataphracts, just an army that has a 40%+ chance of winning a match. And its not spain and gaul who aren't competitive, its rome, pontus and the seleucid empire who are overpowered.

First off there is no army from them with anymore than a 20% winrate vs equal skill level.
    Secondly,
    Rome is not OP.
Pontus is not OP (well borderline)
    Sele is not OP.

    The OP factions are,
    Macedon
    Egypt
    Britan.

    Third heres a Gaul army.
    6 g/g Noble cav
    6 g/g Chosen swords
    2 g/g Barbarian cav.

    Macedon isn't OP.

I agree, but it's easy go get such thoughts when you bring a balanced army and are faced with an all cav/arch army. Properly used, it's incredibly deadly. However, it isn't OP because if you use the same build with Rome, there isn't much he can do as your cav is better than his 1v1 and Cretans aren't enough to make up that deficit.

LOL @ Macedon OP. It works well against SE, but Pontus is sketchy, and saying Macedon trumps Rome is just downright silly.

    1. Macedon and Britain are not OP. Ok, Britain IS OP, but only on 15k + money battles, its not very good on low or very low money battles.
2.Ok, I'll admit it, Seleucids and Pontus are not really OP. Just like you said dacder, they're borderline. Rome is though. *cough-praetorians/urbans being OP + extremely inaccurate historically-cough* *cough- please don't say that catas beat them, i already know that-cough*

If Cataphract factions beat Rome, how is Rome OP? Being weak against Cataphracts is a huge weakeness. Praetorians and Urbans aren't even close to OP either, and historical inaccuracy doesn't mean it's OP either.

Depends what faction you play. Bull Warriors are more resilient against catas than urbans, and balearics can be useful against cata charges, funnily enough. In fact, I think that a Roman general, Publius Ventidius successfully used slingers against cataphracts http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Mount_Gindarus

Otherwise, Bull warriors are too expensive and need to get all their pila out to defeat urbans. Scutarii, long shields and slingers are the go.
