Any of those choices(Metro Redux and Shogun with all expansions of course) is better than an ordinary Vanilla Skyrim. And Legendary edition offers far more than the things you named, but for the record Dawnguard main quest is by far the most entertaining one, followed by Dragonborn, the vanilla one is to meh...

Vanilla campaign is terrible mate, ever since the first time i finished it i've been using alternate start and pretend my guy isnt dragonborn and completely not related to all that crap.
Then, as throngs of his enemies bore down upon him and one of his followers said, "They are making at thee, O King," "Who else, pray," said Antigonus, "should be their mark? But Demetrius will come to my aid." This was his hope to the last, and to the last he kept watching eagerly for his son; then a whole cloud of javelins were let fly at him and he fell.

I'd say it's still good, but the Legendary Edition should definitely go on sale at some point for reasonably cheap so it's probably worth waiting for that before buying Skyrim.

Hi Everyone!! I hope this is the right place for this question :

So I just got Skyrim installed on my PC, and I was wondering if anyone had a list of mods for beginners to install that won't conflict with each other and cause CTD's? Not looking for anything too fancy, I just want mods that will make the game more realistic and easier to role-play characters. For example, I've had my eye on this mod for a while and I'm definitely going to download it because I'm planning a bandit-based build:

Also, I just have the regular version of Skyrim installed via Steam, and I do NOT have any of the DLC bought or installed yet. But should I get them for future patch/compatibility purposes?

Lastly, I'm using an ASUS laptop and my specs are as follows:

    Windows 8.1
    System:
    Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i7 – 5500U CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB (7.87 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
Pen and Touch: No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display

    Display adapters:
    Intel (R) HD Graphics 5500
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M

If you just bought Skyrim on Steam then the DLC is already installed and must to be active, if you deactivated a DLC then make sure all DLC's are active, because without having Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn active you won't be able to use USLEEP since USLEEP requires all DLC.

USLEEP = Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch

Here is the Unofficial Skyrim Patch forum hosted at AFK Mods. Also, read these threads which have a lot of useful information.

Always use these mod user tools for a stable modded game, if you haven't already done that.

Wrye Bash and here is the support thread

There is also a Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide to learn the most basic features in Wrye Bash. New users of Wrye Bash will save some time by learning from that pictorial guide, becuase Wrye Bash has a steep learning curve for beginners.

    As for mod recommendations;

I know a lot of people are using Arthmoor's Alternate Start - Live Another Life (LAL) mod along with his excellent Open Cities Skyrim mod at the same time using USLEEP and the Cutting Room Floor (CRF) mod.

Basically, one can use Arthmoor's mod collection in one game and I am 99% sure that one wouldn't have a single issue, unless one would either install and uninstall a mod without starting a new game. Which are not recommended to do.

Recently, I updated my Skyrim Map Markers mod (only PC) for both the Skyrim Legendary Edition (SLE) and the Skyrim Special Edition (SSE) plus also converted it to all consoles, currently hosted at Bethesda.net.

In early Feb 2018 I decided to post a RELz thread for my Skyrim Map Markers mod.

I think you will find these mods more interesting than the mod you linked to.

Don't hesitate to post a thread at AFK Mods and ask here for mod recommendations since I know all people there are nice and helpful.

FYI AFK Mods has change its domain name and I have updated all old links in this post.

Anyone tried out Beyond Skyrim: Bruma? Was a really nice nostalgia trip to a very fleshed out region that felt more like DLC than something purely fan-made. The voice acting is decent, too, which is usually a rarity in user modifications.
