5th Resident Evil Movie, 'Retribution'

So yep, there is going to be another Paul WS Anderson Resident Evil movie.



As a fan of the games, I wish this film series would just go away. Its bad enough that Anderson ruined any chance this series had for having a decent live action adaptation, but he has to keep beating this dead horse over and over again.

Just the Facts

Alice is not in the games, Alice is played by Paul WS Anderson's wife, Alice is a MarySue. The Mary Sue is the center of this film franchise, rather than a character that's actually in the games. The movie T-Virus does whatever is convenient to the plot, gives Alice super strength, psychic powers, can dry up lakes, etc. None of the movies plots follow any of the games. The list of stupid goes on.

I say boycott this film, I'm never going to pay money to see this in theaters or get it on DVD (except when its in the bargain bin long after it comes out, then I may check it out to see the fail), anybody ells with me on this?

I share your distaste. And RE 5 should rather be called Resident Evil: Overkill.

It's a shame, the game series is my all time favorite.

Old news. Globally the movies keep making profit so they keep on trucking. At this point I think we all know it's to watch Mila Jovovich jump around in tight clothing.

Me. I got tired of this franchise. It shouldnt be called Resident Evil to begin with.

Was to begin with. And Milla Jovovich is the single most annoying actor ever.

This I hated all the movies from the beginning.

Its a shame because the first film was ing awesome. The second one was so so but not horrible, the third was ing stupid. They recovered a little with the 4th so I am looking forward to the 5th. I love this series because of the games, even though the movies dont follow the games I still like the movies, they are kinda like the scary movie franchise.

And Mila is really hot.

Besides this 5th film will feature many of the characters from the games like Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, Ada Wong and Leon. Oh and Claire and Chris Redfield.

That link also says "one" from the first film the head commando is back. Didnt he die in the laser room.

Are Alien vs Predator fanboys made at Anderson too

Anderson movie style has always been Equilibrium like : over the top action, simbolism, grandiosity and simple plots.

Christian Bale was just such a superior actor that He gave his characther personality, Jovovich only have one setting.

Resident Evil players represent a small part of the overal movies goer public, even less overseas, so most people don't give a damn about the movie betrayel of the game.

Resident Evil movies could ever had been either pure action flick or pure horror survival, the first is perfect for movies and the second is perfect for a game you play for hours or a TV show you follow week by week.

I thought they were stupid from the moment I saw the trailer for the first one back in 2002, when I was 13 and had just finished beating the final fourth ending to Resident Evil 2.

I don't care if a film departs from games, I'm not a fanboy at all. But we at least hope that it results in a better story and a good movie. It didn't it just failed even more horribly.

The last one even had the worst editing ever because Alice is injected with ''Reset Serum'' to become human again, but still goes around doing crazy Uber-human stuff.

But still I still have a question spinning in my head : what were people expecting from a Resident Evil movie

You mean back before the first movie was made?

Something based on the first game, but probably with more characters and in groups instead of just a few and mostly by themselves like in the game. I guess it would have more story taking place before they got into the mansion, like in the Arkley forest.

By that point we had already Resident Evil 4 shooting fest ... so I don't think the first game was in mind in its mood or gameplay aspect.

Probably would have been better, but Anderson is the worst person to do that, He seems to only be able to do one character Equilibrium action flicks.

Alice is so Omnipresent she asfixiates the whole movie.

I loved that movie much better than the live action stuff.
