Top 5 fav. factions

Hey guys just thought about a little scenario. You introduce someone to the total war series and hand them a copy of M2TW as a present. They see all the playable factions and ask what are your top 5 favs that you would recommend to them. What factions would you list as your favs to them (they dont have to be in order if you dont want).

For me its gonna be:

-Milan
-England
-Spain
-Denmark
-Poland

(I put mine in order though...)

Do only the factions of vanilla count, or do Kingdoms count as well?

Hungary

I would also suggest Russia instead of the Byzantine Empire depending on how you roll with the Orthodox factions

Fair 'nuff

1. Papal States (don't ask...) - Italian militia, controlling inquisitors, strong roster.

2. England - Amazing economy, out of the way, can invade Europe almost at will, great archers and heavy infantry.

3. Byzantine Empire - Potentially Great Starting position, extra challenge of being hated by everyone else, decent units, good economy.

4. France - Great roster in late period, very strong economy, easy once initial boarders are secured.

5. Scotland - Challenge, poor roster, has to contend with the giants, poor economy. NOT recommended for new players.

Alright then.
5. Spain - Lovely position for RP:ing, good economy, good and varied roster for exciting battles, great naval power allows for sending armies far away and establish many colonies.

4. France - Great roster in late game, exciting beginning where you have to race against Milan, the Holy Roman Empire, Denmark and the Iberian factions, good economy - and love the colour blue .

3. Denmark - Vikings. Dragon ships. Badass. Enough said.

2. Russia - One of the best rosters with good versions of every troop type, great potential for quick expansion and establishment of strong economy despite poor regions - also, founded by vikings .

1. Venice - Incredibly strong roster with awesome militiamen, very good economy, very good position for establishing colonies. Strong ships, too.

1) Byzantines - Nice city troops (not up to italian standards, but swords, maces(kingdoms/mods), and Varangian Guard), awesome castle armies (inf is standard, but cav and archers are some of the strongest. Only missing a crossbow unit here, but made up by byz guard who are nice in melee). They also have the baths line of buildings for serious growth bonuses. Expansion east or west is possible, and you get the challenge of the Mongols. AND the Byzantine Firethrower(well with mods anyway)
2) Russia - Seriously powerful roster, easy access to the riches of the north, some challenges that need to be overcome(huge space beteewn regions, the hordes).
3) Denmark - If you like infantry, this is the faction to choose. Unlike scotland, it also has a roster to back up that infantry dominance. AP cav trained in almost any city (3rd tier church), norse archers are good melee troops, also get a crossbow unit. Lacking a long range unit though.
4) HRE - WAR on all sides. Access to Rich northern territories, and the italian region.
5) Moors - Nice city troops, nice castle troops, good economy once Iberia is under control. One of the closest faction to the Americas

Not that I'd recommend any of those to a beginner, they're just so different from standard.
