Challenge that might baffle you?

Hello everyone,
Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong section, just need serious help.
I had rome total war, but bought the gold edition, to play online. When i went to install it, it said the 'error previous version of game found on the pc' . However, i have deleted from control panel, ccleaner has checked 3 times, and i cannot find anything on ca, 1.2 1.1, rtw or rome total war in ANY file, looked in pretty much everything. Serious pulling my hair out, i'm at my wits end!

PLEASE HELP ME!
Just as another point, two 'computer technicians' at the local computer store could not help me, they could not find it either.

Oh god, you've opened up one of the toughest challenges the game can pose you, the old ''already installed''

I solved this by installing it on my laptop, tranferring all RTW files to two 2GB USB sticks, and then dumping all the files in a seperate folder on my desktop.

The mess of going through registry keys in your computer is simply not worthwile, the USB is a hasty solution, however, and if you are willing to go the long way, do so.
