Default [Confirmed] AMD Bulldozer and Shogun 2 Incompatible

AMD is aware that shogun 2 does not run on bulldozer processors, looks like barcelona 2.0.

Wow, I am surprised. "Here's a brand new great processor, but you can't play good games on it." Makes no sense.

there is a flaw in the new amd processors that creates lots of instability when playing shogun 2.

    i dont' understand , take a look ....

really i dont' understand, maybe it all depends on the motherboards or BIOS ?

  6. #6

Default Re: [Confirmed] AMD Bulldozer and Shogun 2 Incompatible

the game is unstable, not unplayable. also they posted that on day of release so maybe they got an earlier build chip. amd admitted there is a problem so its on them to fix it because the multprocessing on the processor is crap, the error occurs before the data gets to the motherboard.

aha, can you post some links about what you are saying?

in any case AMD two days ago made an official announcement ..

    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...platforms.aspx

with links to updated BIOS ..

Default Re: [Confirmed] AMD Bulldozer and Shogun 2 Incompatible

reading your links provides proof of my claim. also updating the bios does not mean its not the processor. a updated bios is cheaper than recalling all their processors. time will tell if the bios update solves the problem for everyone.

also ASUS, Biostar, and ECS users are still screwed. and if you screw up your bios flash, your screwed. AMD is taking the cheap way out.

the problem is that you have BSOD with steam games and , it seems that some people that updated BIOS with unofficial ones, have resolved problems ....

i'm not so sure that the problem is the FX CPU, keep in mind that AMD tested this completely new microarchitecture for a long time, it isn't possible that such a flaw in the CPU would pass non observed ..

    i think so.

if you make the fx processor a single core, that also solves the problem. some people can get it fixed by increasing the voltage. the problem is the cpu, but they can fix it with a bios update.

Thread resurrection a tad, but I wanted to add that BSOD aren't limited to steam games lol You get them with non steam games too, often more than not sue to driver issues, not he games themselves. Anyway to add some use to this res, Alfonso, any update for the peeps on some working FX bulldozer chips, or has AMD had another 'little' fail here ?!

    Hi all, happy new year
I posted in the stickied thread. I got a new PC with a AMD bulldozer proccessor fx 6100. I checked out the website maximus decimus meridius put up and found my motherboard. Problem is when I download and try the newest bios it says its the incorrect version for 64bit windows 7, am I just gonna have to wait for a new bios to come out play shogun and portal 2?
