Default editting units in data.pack doesn't change anything?

well iv'e been trying to change the unit stats for a while
so basicly what i did i tried the hex edditing tutorial, but for some reason it doesn't work.
so i tried to directly change the unit stat tables in the data.pack file i change things like unit number, attack skill and things like that, but nothing happnes
    so my qustion is
    1)why doesn't it work
    2) i didn't get the part after the hex part what do i do with the unit_stat_land file

Download pfm (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...wpost&t=433370), read more tutorials, make a proper mod and try again.

that still doesn't answer my question about why does edditing the data.pack itself (yes with the PFM 1.6.6) and im asking 2 because i don't understand what to do, after i read the tutorial

ultimateelf, whenever the game is patched legacy data is replaced, so most of what is in data.pack has been replaced a number of times, we are up to patch10 now, so patch10.pack is your new data.pack.

btw, use PFM 1.6.7 plus updated dbfiles

ok, it makes things clearer, where do i find patch10.pack?

    nvm
i found it, so your saying if i change the patch10.pack unit stats will change?

Hedge Knight has given the best advice. Please do not edit the files which are distributed with the game. Instead, take a little time to learn how to use PFM and create a small mod with your changes.
