    Default Sub-mods Compilations

Having tried a few sub-mods compilations i wanted to know the general opinion of the players concerning those compilations.

Chose the one you think is best and tell why

My personal favourite its Baron sub-mod because i think its a perfect match of what i wanted to see in the game.

PS: If im forgething any sub-mod compilation(its probable) please tell me.

I have no idea. Make a new poll or scream for help from a mod?

I personally hate these kind of polls, especially when they try to label submods to be something which they aren't. I mean can you call PCP & Frome a compilation? PCP is about adding more difficulty & diversity to the map by introducing a crapload of units, factions and settlements. Frome basically does the same with regard to adding new factions and units.

The first submod for TATW that really could be labeled as a compilation was Point Blank's RR/RC. Although this submod was first all about implementing ''realistic'' unit stats and recruitment conditions, it more or less evolved into a compilation that included a lot more than this specific feature alone. Personally I consider this be a great loss, because the mod basically killed itself this way. At a certain point it became too much work for just one man to update it with every patch/update KK made for TATW.

The second compilation for TATW is my compilation which only focuses on the improvement of vanilla gameplay through mostly scripting-based optional features.

The third compilation is MOS. The first build of this compilation was basically a continuation of V2.0 of my compilation during my absence on TWC. The main goal of this compilation is to make pretty much every submod out there compatible with each other.

Sometime later we have FROGS, which combines Frome with other submods.

So if you want to make a poll and try to compare submods with each other, that’s fine, but plz realize what they are trying to accomplish!

My attempt here wasnt to labell the various sub-mods, my attempt was to give new players a head start to the various sub-mods available for Third Age, and off course i wanted to have for myself an idea how this various mods are perceived by all so i could give more educated suggestions not for a specific mod but for all mods i attempt to help by suggesting features.

these threads have no use, each mods gives something else at the moment..

the first submod compilation was from Pointblank indeed as Baron said. Then Baron made a very nice one for a while till he went of the grid.. which let me to take my small projects and merge them with barons work, which grew to MOS with over 50 mods and also a lot of unique work now. then a few smaller compilations based on the great submod FROME came and went.. RR/RC has merged with MOS and will also be probably never updated so that one is gone to.

All in all i have to see that as far as compilations go Barons has the edge of uniqueness and gives player choices..
MOS has the size and the most content and will in the future also contain Barons latest work which i am allready working on , (great stuff baron ! ) , but MOS does not have much optional..

i believe these are the 2 main submodcompilations

I think not the intention is the problem, moreover the adjective "best" Submod complication is very difficult to estimate and unfair regarding the guys whose makinge these or other Subsmods.

Maybe polling on some other perspective of the submods, would do better than searching the "best".

Perhaps "favourite" would be more correct, however i cant change the poll.

Ive just recently tried "Baron Samedi's Gameplay Enhancing Submods Compilation" mod, i did look into the other two mods, but fount Barons mod suited my preference, it sticks closely to vanillia at the same time allowing the player to add more depth, escalation & if playing as Gondor with Corsair invasion, difficulty to campaign. It also meet the needs of people looking for a easier game, so it cater for everyone.

Its been a while since ive played TATW, but in my recent game as Arnor, i activated the horde script to give the ai a chance of a comeback should all there settlement be overun, but some how i managed to destroy Orc of Gunabad (however its spelt sorry) and Isengard within the first 30 turns, by knocking off a few settlements of each and the rest turning rebel? I did kill the faction leaders, but ive never knocked out two ai factions so quickly. So im guessing the armys became leaderless in there family tree, even thou they had other generals on the field? May have been a fluke, will have to try vanilla to see if i can pull it off again. But a nice mod for people still wanting to keep most of the vanilla content while adding in some nice feature.

when PCP 1.0 is released it's going to be the best submod of all time but right now it's really more of a work in progress so I voted for pure awesomeness that is Baron's.

Heya, sorry for the slow reply. Ok.

    1. We local moderators can't change poll options (frustrating but there you have it), you need a someone from the actual moderation staff (dark blue name).

    2. The poll is very incomplete and also badly worded (the word "best"). Indeed it's pretty much impossible to list every single sub mod (even just the better known ones), it's a very impractical thing to do but is also needed if the poll is to be "fair" (which it almost certainly can't be since submods provide different things and often even contain content from other submods).

    3. I don't want to create tension and negative rivalry among people who take time to work on these. Whatever the OP's intention may be, it's virtually impossible for these things not to turn into faux popularity contests even if the modders themselves don't participate in the discussion.

    4. If a new player is interested in submods they can just look around or make a thread asking for advice like they have in the past. I see no need for such inquiries to take the form of best/favorite polls.

    So in conclusion.

    Closed.

Sorry BD, I know this isn't what you originally asked for. Life's a prostitute and then you get a colostomy
    , ewww.

Edit: In relation to point 2. I noticed you said "compilation", not submods in general, but it doesn't change much overall.
