If the window size you've specified is the same as your desktop resolution, it'll appear to run in fullscreen, but with a difference. When it properly runs in fullscreen, when you switch back to desktop, it has to reprocess between the desktop and the game (you'll see the loading bar when that happens). When it runs in windowed mode, it doesn't need to reprocess, so you can switch more quickly. If you set the window size to smaller than your desktop, you'll actually see the game run in a window.
my resolution for desktop is 1680x1050 and my in-game settings are both set to 1024x768, i have -ne added to the end of the launchers properties but still dont see any windowed mode when i alt tab to and fro
This is how my shortcut looks in the launcher and the windowed mode works perfectly -show_err -nm - movie_cam -ai -ne are you sure you have the correct spacing between commands?
this is how the target line of my rtr7 launcher
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Launcher\Rome Total Realism VII.exe" -ne
i have tried putting the -ne inside the quotation marks but it comes up with some error
i have fixed this, i found there is a bar when the launcher opens where i put -ne after the showerr option rather than rightclick - properties as i was doing. thanks for help guys +rep
What do -ai and -movie_cam do?
Glad you got it sorted out Don!
@Nerouin: The command -ai allows the AI to control the players faction. It's used a lot during beta testing to help determine stability and expansion patterns of the various factions. The -movie_cam command allows you to take screens and shoot movies at angles not possible during during a regular custom battle.
