Rome Takeover Help
After so much persevering i finally got full popularity with the people and i was finally able to try to take over rome as the Julii on Normal. Notice i said TRY. After i attacked The Brutii in Sparta, i was immediately beaten out of 12 settlements by the other roman families and the S.P.Q.R. I held out most of the time against them but i felt like i did it wrong. any tips anyone can give on taking rome and where to begin, (First location i should attack, and post setup of units and towns) before i start the Civil War.
P.S. Do the other families and the S.P.Q.R. attack each other or just the family faction you play?

Can you screencap the map? To know your unit positions/strengths and your current settlements makes it 10 times easier to help.

Re: Rome Takeover Help
When you have the option to attack Rome, gather your armies and place them at SPQR's doorstep. Launch the attack and PLAY it out. If you are a successful battlefield commander, you should be able to take Rome easily. Do not autoresolve battles when fighting your pesky ex-allies. The next one you should take out is Scipii. They own only one settlement, Capua, on Italy. Wiping them off of the peninsula will save you future battles. The next are the Brutii. Harder, but most of their armies should be off in Greece or Macedonia, and perhaps starting onto Egypt by then.
Easy win to take over the Peninsula.
NEXT:
Take over Sicily. You want nice trade from there. And good farming. Afterwards, head over to Greece and take over the once Macedonian and Greek lands. Spread East until you take Byzantium. Halt there, but have one army of 4 Equites and 4 Hastati, along with 1-3 units of Roman Archers, and one Family Member. This should suffice to hold naval attacks.
NEXT: Once you've done these steps, the Brutii should be severely crippled. Ignore them for now. Scipii have probably destroyed Numidia by now and expanded closer to Egypt. Take Carthage and the neighboring settlement. This will give you the foothold in North Africa. Spread West and South with two separate armies. If you are not a seasoned commander in fighting real battles, then you'll need large armies. If not, two armies should suffice as long as you possess enough cavalry. Roman infantry is quite sturdy when up against any large-town unit (besides Phalanx). Cavalry gives you the edge for a good shock.
NEXT: Exterminate the Scipii. Wipe them off. With them gone, Africa is secured and expansion into Egypt is ready. Along with your hold of the Greek lands, you can spread East from there to take over Pontus and Egypt (assuming Brutii is not there). Eliminate any Roman faction left and destroy Egypt. Get rid of Armenia and Pontus and focus expanding north from Byzantium. I assume you've taken over Gaul and Germania by the time the Civil War had taken place. Thrace will be easy, along with Dacia. Scythia will be harder as their horse archers give constant harass. Bring some missile units with you and some Family Members. Remember, every army you possess should be led by a family member. It will make battles much easier.
Happy Plundering!
