    Default WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!

OK this is coming out pretty close to the other one i just did but what the hell. I was playing as the Julii in the RTW campaign and in an obviously easily winnable battle. i sent some basic calvary and a general into a small group of rebel barbarians and they were decimated i have no clue why but i lost 70 horsemen and the general to those things is their a barbarian unit that can decimate calvary that don't have pikes or spears and are not mounted. WHAT ARE THEY. Or was it just a stupid glitch

Did you autoresolve? It's possible for outrageous outcomes when you autoresolve. Otherwise, Germania's Spear Warbands will kill cav if you're not careful, but then you'd have been able to tell they had spears. The other hidden option is just a basic Warband unit, which has a bonus against cav for having spears even though the unit card doesn't say so. It's possible they got a warcry off which boosts their combat power for about 30 seconds. Was it on hard/very hard battle difficulty? I can't really offer much more insight on the information you've provided.

It Wasn't auto resolve and it was on normal difficulty but thanks for the info on the warband calvary bonus i believe that was most likely it. are warband week to just normal solders like Hastarti or Cohorts?

Yes, Hastati rip Warband to shreds, even with Warcry

Warbands are easy. Just lure them one way and charge your cavalry to their backs.

Or even easier, shower them with arrows.

By the time you get a hold of standard legions you will often find youself in ridiculous 100 vs 2000 casualty situations, that was indeed my situation when Britannia had one of their fits and went nuts on me with 5 full stacks of warbands.

Just send your hastati to deal with the warbands. They can make life easier. To make it even easier, send all your cavalry, general on rally call (to make the general stay behind), and pummel a section of their line. They should almost insta-route, and you can continue there, continuing to a mass route.

Remember that it depends on whom controls what units. I have used warbands to rip trough principes. It all comes down to how you use your units, their strengts and weaknesses. A warband is made for fast charges in ambushes towards enemy units rears or flanks and for overwhelming an enemy with sheer numbers. A hastati is meant to march in good order in a line of battle towards an enemy line before either charging, or use pillums first, then charge in.
