Looks to me all the non christians are seriously underpowered. The one i like most is the kwarezm faction because they have such an awesome unit in that Royal gaurd. Any other suggestions from experienced players?

Europeans have "superior" heavy knights...
imagine walking around with such a heavy equipment in a desert... imagine a small kid beeing able to beat you up with a stick because you are too exhausted to defend yourself...
This is why people living in deserts refuse to carry a heavy armour... perhaps some light clothes and a bow are better?!
Islamic factions must be used differently from euopean ones!
read some tutorials about thatthey are not underpowerd! kwarzmenien empire has some superior horse archers who are able ( if used properly ) kill manymanymany heavy knights without loosing any soldiers... Their infantry ( look out for the underpowered ones with light armour ) has sometimes ap( armor piercing ) weapons and stuff...
^agreed, and the Turks get Janissaries which are some of best Heavy infantry in the game. do you not see the Fatimids always dominating the campaign map until the Mongols arrive?
Lithuania is awesome![]()
Heh, no actual offense intended!
It was just meant as, The Lithuanians are one of the only Pagan factions in the game, and the rest of the world have been 'inflicted' with these other major religions, which they'll battle against.
It was not meant to inflect my general feeling of Christianity or Islam.![]()
@Chyeaaaah11 Family Guy? Good memories...
Oh, and nice DP and sig +repped![]()
Well...if you want non-Catholic factions, I hear them Mongols aren't too bad?
Moors and Turks are really the only non-Christian factions that come across as weak and for Turks that really only applies in the early eras. Moors have had alot of work done in submods and perhaps next version of SS will integrate that.

are there any non-chrsitian factions that dont specialise in horse archers?
Fatimids, kind of. They will get Horse Archers from turkey, but in start they have only desert cavalry, they have javelins. Later they got mamluk archers, but most of their roster is something else than horse archers. Loads of not so good infantry with almost endless money.
Moors, weak? Usually they steamroll everything down? When AI, their units are not so awesome, like Fatimids, loads of infantry.
Moors do well in early eras but later even vs AI the Moors will lose. If you play as them very long it gets frustrating by mid 1200s as all the European factions getting better units and Moors don't, in 1300s its even worse, finally after that get a couple units but I found myself using mostly mercenaries because Moors are quite rich but only a couple good unique roster units. Sicily and France in 1300s as Moors if you did not defeat them already can be a challenge.

Can Lithuania convert to christendom in this mod?
Wow, the misunderstandings fly to and fro!
Science flies you to the moon.
Religion flies you into buildings.

Getting back towards the topic, I love playing as the non-Catholic Factions BECAUSE they are a little weaker. The Lithuanian religious units in particular are awesome.
I would suggest they are weaker because they are surrounded by mostly hostile factions, rather than the actual roster. Particularly the Seljuks and Lithuania, to a lesser extent sometimes Kiev. I agree the early Seljuk roster is a bit under powered.
The Moorish and Fatimid rosters aren't particularly impressive, but they generally do well because of their excellent starting positions.
i play with lithuania now (early era) , have captured constantinople early l,ike 10 turn . moved all my army to black sea , buy merconary ship and rush byzant . so lithuania horse archers allways save the day and their generals couse fear , so they are prety good .... in constantinople u can build dievas guard or giltines chosen in 7+ turnsand sell those casltles and citys on north ....
