    Default How to remove mercenaries?

How do I remove mercenaries permenantly from the campaign map, preventing anyone from recruiting them. I hope to use this in Stainless Steel 6.4 as I want to modify certain mercenary units.

The ‘descr_mercenaries’ file, open it and delete all the unit pools.

You're referring to this file yes?
    C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\SS6.3\data\campaign\early\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

I tested it out by deleting the contents within the file completely, saving it, then playing campaign as France to see if they could still recruit Breton cavalry... they still could even though I erased all lines within the descr_mercenaries file. I even tried deleting the recruitment line for Breton Cavalry on my 2nd try and the French could still recruit them. What's the problem? I use the early era campaign and RR/RC.

Yup also worth a read if you're trying to add some variety in merc recruitment\availability.

No screwed your backup file lol, the actual location of that is:
    .....mods\SS6.3\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

To fix your backup file make sure you copy paste this original file in that location before you clear this one. Otherwise if the backup copy is lost then you have to re-install SS.
