Does anyone know any half decent online multiplayer representations of this battle?

I know that there is that time commanders series thing, but it seriously sucks, they make it like impossible for the team to lose, and than compliment them for apparently having good generaling sense. I want to see Leuctran principles, (local superiority of force against a superior Spartan led phalanx line), performed under a decent amount of stress.

That is actually true. The 2v2 partner of the guy that trained me at RTW was the person that designed the AI for Time Commanders. It had to be, quote, "Idiot proof".

lol I know. I was watching the Leuctra battle. First the Spartan horse engages the Theban horse, throwing one regiment in at a time to be slaughtered. What was particularly painful was when the Theban humans sent a phalanx unit at the Spartan horse, and it almost caused a hysteria for dividing the army(even though the main Spartan line was nowhere near it), but than they complimented the butch netball captain/general who started screaming "get the army back together.

I could take no more of it when the AI sent the Spartan hoplites out alone to attack the whole Theban line, leaving the rest of the Spartan army on it's own.

What would make a far more entertaining t.v. show would have been if they only allowed the historical military experts to play, taught them basic controls, had another human player against them, and watch them whinge when they think they know something and they get it wrong. That would make great t.v.

All I am really looking for however is a youtube vid that shows Spartans being overwhelmed by other hoplites and the rest of the Greek line collapsing.

a fun fact is that few people are actually knowlegeable in how to use search engines properly. Only a small percentage really knows all of google's functions.

In regards to time commanders, I agree that it would be hilarious to pit military experts against an experienced gamer to see who would win out.
