Siege Battles crashing Third Age..

Hey there, I'm new to Third Age: Total War, and have been having a blast with this mod as Gondor ((Awesome mod) I doubt you all will get tired of hearing that), with one not so tiny exception unfortunately, when I try to play Siege Battles the game black screens and crashes to desktop on the loading screen, ALMOST every single time, Mordor endlessly attacks me in East Osgiliath and the game will load Siege battles on that city the MAJORITY of the time, but will indeed still crash 1/3rd of the time.

I'd say about 90% of the crashes I get don't give an error message or anything of the sort, but the times that it does it will say something along the lines of "An unspecified error has occurred" before black screening and crashing to the desktop, the vanilla game works wonderfully on its own, the problem is specific to Third Age.

I am running Third Age 2.1 on XP and I doubt the problem is with how I installed it, I have tried reinstalling already following the instructions in this thread to the letter:

But have met with no change at all in doing so.

I have done my research before making this post, and have tried numerous and varied solutions to try and fix it, including:

-turning autosaves off
-deleting the "map.rwm" files
-even deleting the .string files mentioned ( I realize this fix is for Vista and W7, but it couldn't hurt to try)

I've turned shadows off, another problems Ive seen for some people and tried turning the graphics down to almost nothing, but the problem persists on cities, not effecting battles on open ground at all.

I've gone through about 12 forum pages of people having identical problems, and tried several other solutions and have been unable to fix the problem, any help that could be offered to Gondor in it's time of need will be greatly rewarded!

Could you post your log after a crash?, you can find it in "Medieval II Total War\logs"

I've gone in and crashed it several times on a Siege battles in the campaign, and this is the only data that the log in C:\Program Files\Medieval II Total War\logs produces,

"12:20:07.171 [system.rpt] [always] CPU: SSE2"

Figured there would be more, thanks for responding.

I have the same problem with siege battles. The game crashes sometimes after battle zoom or sometimes when I win the siege battle and return to campaing map.

I hope somebody knows how resolve this bug...

As do I, as many as a third of the problems posted for Third Age 2.0-2.1 seem to be regarding this issue, in it's varied forms. If no one knows/can figure out how to fix this bug we all may have to wait until version 3.0 is out... DON'T LET IT BE SO!

Indeed I have, unfortunately, most of those solutions are for Windows 7, I'm on XP, and the ones that aren't Windows 7 are mentioned in my first post, my problem seems to be somethings else altogether, it MUST be something to do with the castles/cities themselves, as I've never, not once encountered a crash when fighting on open land. Is there some texture that the mod uses that could be causing the crash, one that perhaps could be deleted for now to stabilize the game?

I've also been playing custom battles, since my obsession for Third Age cannot be sated on my crashing campaign games, and it seems even though I'm using the directions posted here:

I'm still getting crashed about 1/3rd of the times I try to play Siege battles.

Have you already turned off UAC? How to turn of UAC. 3) i recommend.
