Are the sacred band phalangites? They should have the upper hand animation from EB and RS if they are not ( they weren't historically.)
But otherwise, great work and a plus rep from me
EDIT: my rep comment screwed up badly lol
They are Phalangites. You can't have a phalangirte with an overhead animation, because it doesn't make any sense, because they can't lift the heavy sarissa over the head and fight like that.
Thanks for the comment!
I meant hoplites. HOPLITES. Sacred band weren't phalangites historically, I meant something more like this...

I found that they were phalangites somewhere and also I planed changing the name of the mod because the mod is aming between historical part and gameplay and my thought are that the mod will never be 100 % acurrate.
Also I want to say that it is likely that I was wrong about the phalangites.
The overhead animation will be an extra feature of the mod,so people can choose to have it or don't while the game is installed.Originaly the units will be like in the vanilla with no overhead.

Awww, I prefer overhead or at least what rise of Persia does (phalanx that allows them to run for the hoplites) and the sacred band were hoplites, the Carthaginians didn't use phalangites till a lot later, if at all.
Ok. You will certainly have an option to choose.Awww, I prefer overhead or at least what rise of Persia does (phalanx that allows them to run for the hoplites) and the sacred band were hoplites, the Carthaginians didn't use phalangites till a lot later, if at all.
Carthaginians did used phalangites. And Sacred Band were hoplites and cavalrymen.
sacred band of Baal - hoplites
Sacred band of Astarte- cavalry
They used phalangites but not sacred band. They used African pikemen for phalangites.
Correct. They used phalangites but not sacred band![]()
What is this god ?Astarte
Yes, Liby-Phoenician phalangites. They used African pikemen for phalangites.
I don't think you should believe wikipedia (even not the english version) if i were you.
Why does everyone doubt Wikipedia just because someone finds a few tiny errors? It's a bit ridiculous.
If i have to be honest, there is no "Sacred band" in that time. But there is no real way to remove the tradition, so there was some sort of elite troops. Probably didn't inherited the name, couse of "bad luck" or something (the same way, the romans didn't really replaced a destroyed legion).
They are phalangites, couse Asgaroth does not like the overhead animation
There is no real reason to conclude, that there wore even a hoplite-like unit in carthages army at the time. As far as we are concerned, the "Poeni Swordsmen" could be the "Sacred Band" analog in the roster. So... well, i don't really care that much. I like the game-play options, that such an unit opens, and that is enough for me![]()
The sacred band hadn't been destroyed yet, they were destroyed in the first Punic war. They were restored in the second Punic war by hannibal.
I thought the Sacred Band was destroyed when Carthage was at war with Syracuse in the 4th century BC?
