Patches question

Sorry really basic question here but I am getting a lot of crashes mid-battle so I assume I must need patches but I play the game via Steam and can't work out how to do it, so does anyone know how to get and install patches if you play via Steam?

The game is patched automaticly iff you play through steam. The crashes are probably because of something else. have you tried turning down the settings
