I'd love to, but I'm facing the very same issue in my own mod.

Does the new units table have all info filled in?

Try including unit/s in exclusive factions permissions(if they are just for one)

Try including unit/s in government type permissions.

And always recheck editing (if using DB editor) and make sure you click off the box your editing before you save.

    Hope this helps.

Why can't you recruit them? aren't they visible in the campaign? Are they greyed out?

They aren't visible for recruitment in campaign/custom battle. I've tried this with 2 units: a new hessian line infantry recruitable in europe for hessen and the hms shannon (with this name displayed ingame). Since blueprints for both units already existed in the packfiles, I didn't have to worry about designing the units, so I could focus on the technical aspects of these 2 units. I went through al the steps listed in the tutorial http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=238847, but there are no results. Any suggestions?

If all you are trying to do is make them recruitable for another nation... you just need to make sure that they are recruitable for the region (in new_units and in the region table) (*note i don't remember the region tables name but its obvious when you see it, it has region in the table name.) And then make sure that the faction has permission set.. you find that under the factions permissions table. that one is just a drop down if I remember right so you (for example) add a row select the hessen infantry then the group (ie: usa_group) and that should do it.

I made a "new" hessian: recruitable for hessen as "global", so regions and factions allowed should be OK, but still no results. I did it this way as to prevent GB from recruiting hessian line infantry in europe

    Hello
    1) You have made sure the unit is recruitable in building_units_allowed yes
    2) You have given the unit a realisted set of unit stats? Double check all the units have proper value's, as a single spelling mistake can cause an error.
    3) I assume you have given the unit a real ability with no spelling mistakes in unit_to_unit_abilities_junctions?
    4) In the units table theres not really much you can get wrong to cause it not to show up other than the Region_IDRef value.
    5) If you have included this unit in the exclusive_faction_permissions and military_permissions then there isn't really any reason why you database work would cause a crash, unless maybe it's just a matter of spelling mistakes or giving the wrong entry?
Unfortunately I tend not to edit ships from scratch because the crew sections always throw up issues so i could not really be much help there.
Anyway, are you sure you saved the new pack as a mod, then included it in the user.empire_script.txt document using the right layout of the wording and saved it as unicode format?
