    Default help on generals and crusades

    i want to change the bodyguard (royal) unit for gaelics to be dismounted, essentially the 2handers that generals use, and have them 25% larger then the generals ones.

    1) how would i do this
    2) will it break my save game ( i wouldnt think so ?)


    also, would like to see a increase on crusades/jihads on the player controlled faction, is it possible for me with little modding exp (ive only gone as far as editing stats in the EDU) to implement this? (and again is it save compatible?)



    just copied this from a thread i created on the THERA boards, and was linked here, and after some searches i cant seem to find relevent texts to help me with this, can anyone explin to me how to do it or perhaps link me to a thread noob friendly that explains step by step how to change generals bodyguards, and/or the frequency of crusades/jihads on the player controlled faction?

    specific to the THERA mod would be useful.

    Does the unit you want to be the bodyguard already exist ? or do you need to add it yourself ?

    Hmm could you give us the entry of the EDU currently used as a bodyguard unit by the gaelic in THERA
    and the one you want to have as bodyguard ?

    Anyway I'll explain with another example:
    note, the Gaelic probably won't be called that but he a renamed vanilla faction, so browse the text.strings to figure out wich one it is.

    This unit has to be ABOVE the normal body guard unit in the EDU as the game looks for the first viable unit for a general in the EDU so if another viable general_unit is above it it won't work.

    Now I assume you probably wont want to compromise an already existing unit so I'll show you how to make a new entry without having to do any complex work to the EDU ( note that there is a limit of 500 units I don't know howmany THERA uses but make sure you don't go over it )

    1: Select a unit on foot with 2 handed axes that you like as bodyguard

    2: Copy the entire entry

    3: Change the entry name and the dictionary name

    4: Add the nessecairy lines

    5: Open the export_unit.txt in the text folder and add a new entry
    {Gaelic_Bodyguard}Gaelic Bodyguard
    {Gaelic_Bodyguard_descr}Bla bla bla
    {Gaelic_Bodyguard_descr_short}Bla

    6: copy a .TGA in the data/ui/unit_info/Gaelic folder that fits your unit and rename it to Gaelic_Bodyguard
