    Default Numidian Legionaries

    Helo people,

    I was just wondering if someone could tell me how to get Numidian Legionaries for my campaign (RTR 6.2), I know that I can't get them in my original cities, so I suspect I'll have to conquer a Roman city to be able to recruit them?

    It will be avialable after the Roman had their reform. If you're playing other faction, and the Romans were unfortunately defeated before they had the reforms, then you'll going to end up with those regular units.

    Thanks, do you know when the Marian reforms happen? In my last campaign with the Macedonians the Marian reforms never took place...

    i think they happen randomly any time after 220 BC and when the romans have an imperial palace in italy. they will not occur however if the romans are defeated befoe the marius reforms

    Is 190 BC and no reforms... I have taken a city of Rome, but can't recruit Numidian Legionaries. Is there a way I can make the reforms happen? Like changing something in the RTR documents from "FALSE" to "TRUE"? Or are Numidian Legionaries only recruitable in Rome?

    Any help would be appreciated

    you can edit export_descr_buildings file in data folder
    you must find proper level barracks building and delete " and marian reforms" from:

    recruit "numidian legionaries" 0 requires factions { numidia, } and marian reforms

    i didnt play rtr but I think it works

    remember to backup your file!

    save your file before doing any changes

    You mean to save the original file somewhere else, and then replace it with the edited one?

    I found;

    recruit "aor italy hastati" 0 requires factions { numidia, } and marian_reforms and hidden_resource aor_italy

    the hidden resource means that unit coud be recruited in certain provinces like for example spartan hoplites (only in sparta)

    I tried it and it didn't work... perhaps by getting rid of the "hidden resources"

    EIDT:

    WOHO!! It worked. I didn't delete the "hidden resources," what happened was that when I backed up the file, my editions went to the back up file instead of the one being in use. How silly. But this is truly awesome! Now those Romans will know whats coming to them!

    Thanks a lot dude! :original:

    Sorry to bother again, but I was wondering two things;

    1. How can I get armoured elephants with the Numidians? I was looking at the export_descr_buildings file and notice that there were no armoured elephants in it. Only elephants I found were tower, "just elephant" and indian elephants. Wait, I also found elephant cathapract for the Seleucians. So how I can get armoured elephants (apart from mercenaries, ofcourse.)?

    2. By using the method I implemented for getting the Numidian Legionaries, could I add any unit I want to play with for the Numidians? For example, a Spartan Hoplite is recruitable at Carthage.

    Any help would be appreciated and delightful I'm sure.

    1. I think Armoured elephants are not recruitable for Numidians. I can almost swear on one of those endless debates about wether the Numdian elephant was smaller or bigger then its Asian counterpart, someone mentioned Numidians did not use Armoured elephants. Not sure though I haven't played RTR in a while, in fact I'm reinstalling it as we speak! :original:

    2. I think so, but why would you want to? Does it not defeat the purpose of the mod itself?

    1. They should be because in the custom battle screen, I see that there are armoured elephants that are not mercenaries...

    2. Not really becase the cities and game play are the same... just a little fun I suppose. After playing with the same units all the time it gets kind of dull.

    by editing export_descr_units and export_descr_buildings you can add any unit or building to any faction
    first you must in export_descr_unit add ownership of chosen nation for example in spartan hoplites you have:
    { greek_cities, }
    change to: {greek_cities, numidia }
    then you must add proper line in export_descr_buildings in army or urban barracks
    just copy line with spartans and change greek_cities to numidia

    however there is one small problem i could not solve, i dont know witch file is responsible for icons in campaign map so you probably will have rebel peasant (default) icon instead of spartan but in battle they will look normal

    rtw is very easy to mod, i change it for my self and i'm not very good in computer stuff
    there are few tricks that can make game harder and funnier
    i play with:
    mm3 map
    all roman temples for each roman faction same to greeks
    civilized factions have siege engines and crews doubled (for example 4 onagers and 128 crew in single unit on huge scale)
    no peasant
    0 time recruitment for all units
    in basic levels building you can recriut all units (all infantry in barracks etc.) aditionall level= experience bonus
    caravans for carthage numidia and egypt
    basic stone walls for spain gauls and dacians
    militia units consists 200 soldiers
    pre marian roman units 120 soldiers ( two centuries of 60 )
    roman cav 80 soldiers
    elite units (chosen swordsman, spartans etc) 100 soldiers
    incrased size for eastern cavalry units (especially parthia and scythia)

    with settin like this some times you have realy to think how beat AI
    if you want I can send you files but i advice you to do the changes by yourself it is more satisfying

    To my dismay I have encounter another problem. This time its quite a strange problem; I recruited the Carthaginian Sacred band, poeni infantry, Athenian hoplites, and Corinthian hoplites as Numidia. Then I went ahead and tried to start a battle between Numidia and the Ptolemaic Empire. As the battle was loading, the game went back to the destop.

    So sadly I'm unable to fight battles using the sacred band, Athenian hoplites, and poeni infantry... but what is weird is that I can fight battles with the Corinthian hoplites!

    Any help would be appreciated.

    i think this could be some error in files describing units during battle... you should ask this question in mod workshop area...
