Thread: The Map

    Default The Map

I have issues with the NTW campaign map. Namely, the regions in certain parts of the game.

Yes, I understand London is the capital of Great Britain, but that doesn't mean it needs to have an insane amount of land. The "London" region covers all land from Exeter to the border of the Scottish highlands, from London to the border of Wales... What? Where are the other major cities?

And France. Oh, lord... Paris has 16.2m people now, does it?
To include cities like Bordeaux with less than 200k people but to leave out cities like Lyons just irks me. The Paris region is HUGE!

Don't get me started on Madrid, because I'll never stop. The only capital that I find is at least close to realistic size is Brandenburg.

I'm not saying each region should be miniscule and the only the size of that city, but please... why does Paris range from the Atlantic to Alsace-Lorraine??

i know EU3 map spoilt us regarding accuracy of regions. But to facilitate this game, as primary it is a war game. They had to scarifice accuracy for playability.

I agree with many of your concerns, the populations are waytoo high, to be sure. However, note that when you're looking at what you call the "London region", its actually the region of England, with London as its capital. There are other majoc cities in England, but in game they are represented as "towns" or ports. (ex.Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Oxford) There are also Scotland, Wales and Ireland as separate regions. So yes, England is the biggest of the 3 regions on the island, but the region itself is not called London. When you click on London proper, you are shown that it is "London, England"

Same goes with France. The "Paris region" as you call it is actually the region of France, with Paris as its capital. France stretches from the Atlantic to Alsace-Lorraine, not Paris.
Lyons is in the game, but simply as a town inside France. Indeed, it stands as a great example as something that could've been a region unto itself. At present it is alone in a rather barren surroundings.

I knew this, it just annoys me that so many large cities are mere ports or graineries or windmills and whatnot...

If CA maakes a DLC with an improved map, I'd gladly buy it, even it if cost as much as the initial game (providing they indeed improve the map seriously)

If they priced it at $60, it better be on steroids.
