'New Bin Laden tape'

The West's moves to isolate the new Hamas-led Palestinian government prove it is at war with Islam,
a tape said to be from Osama Bin Laden says.
The recording, purported to be by the al-Qaeda leader, was broadcast by Arab satellite TV al-Jazeera.
It was the first message from Bin Laden since January 2006, when he threatened more attacks on the US.
However, there is still no fresh information on the whereabouts of the fugitive leader.

Hamas isolation
The speaker on the tape said that along with their governments,
the people of the West bear responsibility for what he called a "Zionist crusaders war against Islam".
"The war is a responsibility shared between the people and the governments.
The war goes on and the people are renewing their allegiance to its rulers and masters," he said.
"They send their sons to armies to fight us and they continue their financial and moral support
while our countries are burned and our houses are bombed and our people are killed."
He said that the decision by some Western powers to cut funding to the Palestinian government since the militant group Hamas won elections there was further prove of this anti-Islamic campaign.
"The blockade which the West is imposing on the government of Hamas proves that there is a Zionist crusaders war on Islam,"
the tape said.
As in a tape from the al-Qaeda leader in January, the speaker warned of fresh attacks on US soil.
The speaker also criticised Western involvement in the Sudan saying it was part of the "crusades against Islam"
and called for terrorists to journey there to join the fight.

Nosferatu the Undead. I lean to believe that he is dead a long time ago, and both the US (for dearth of tangible evidence) and the Jihadists (waiting for the right moment of martyrdome) have silently agreed to let him "live" as long he is useful.

Well, on this he is talking about recent events,
if the voice and and face are autheniticated by the experts..happening as we speak.
And it is indeed confirmed to be bin laden, then it does not seem to be the undead, but the very much alive.

If he is alive he cannot survive much longer. He is old and in poor health with little to no access to sophisticated healthcare and probably poor access to food and other supplies, terrible living conditions for an old sick man.

Update:

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the tape had been assessed as authentic by intelligence agencies.

The speaker also criticised Western involvement in the troubled Darfur region of Sudan, saying it was part of the "crusades against Islam" and called for militants to journey there to join the fight.

"I call on mujahideen and their supporters, especially in Sudan and the Arab peninsula, to prepare for long war again the crusader plunderers in Western Sudan," the voice said. "Our goal is not defending the Khartoum government but to defend Islam, its land and its people."

Unless it is a high-def video, we can't be sure that it is Osama.
Audio tracks are useless as evidence for a government special investigations bureau of any type, or at least they should be. With the new technology developed in 2001, a recording of someone's undistorted voice lasting about 10 minutes can be used to recreate their voice almost perfectly. Audio tracks can be faked so well that unless you know the person, you can't tell that it is not their speech.
Even if it is authentic, we don't know when it was made. Osama could have died by now from his illnesses, especially now that he can't go to the US and get insured healthcare anymore.
This could be a situation like the death of a king or emperor during a crusade; the knights won't be told about the passing until after the battle.

How important is OBL really? sure it'd be nice to kill or capture him so that we could ritually strangle him roman fashion but it's not like hes in any way the operational leader of Al Quaeda. If we captured him it'd just be another thing to add to Dubya's ever expanding list of accomplishments.
