    Default Roman civil war

Will the roman factions start the civil war if I play as a non roman faction? If that is so in what year will that be?

Unless you edit game files they cannot be at war with each other if you are not playing as one of them.

Imagine you playing as Carthage. After some 150 turns there are only one Roman faction left besides the Senate, the Julii.
Then Imagine what a civil war would be like....
That is why when player is non-roman, it will not happen.

Sure there may be complications but history shouldn't be let down just because the game isn't balanced.

As far as the Roman factions go, there isnt really much historical accuracy involved, there was only one Roman state until the split into east and west. If you want the game to be more true to history, play a mod instead of vanilla.

My guess is that it has nothing to do with balance issues. It is purely practical. A civil war needs "participants". And a player playing a non-roman faction surely gets rid of the "participants" as fast as possible, making a civil war somewhat of a balance issue, as what is left of the Romans after a civil war would be easy picking for the human.

Heck, if you wanted a TRUELY historic game, youd sit there watching it play itself. Everyone playing TW changes the course of history with the forces and territories they amass in-game. I'm pretty sure Rome never expanded to modern day northwest russia, but I do it all the time.not very historic....
