Yes, the mod is for BI 1.6.
No, the amazons didn't exist, but the events of the iliad didn't happen either (at least not with all of the famous characters).
Yes, this has been covered before

    Hello Zhuge,

Sir, forgive me, but I noticed you said Amazons DIDN'T exist.

I saw a special on the History channel which shows that near Armenia/Black sea area that graves were uncovered with women bones in them with weapons! They were probably a steppe culture.

Also, it showed a blonde haired, blue eyed Mongolian girl and that the finds (skeletal) from the Black Sea corresponded genetically to this girl, Believe it or not!
It WAS on t.v. and it showed the girl and talked about the lab(s) that did the DNA study.

When it comes to literature, we have to see beyond the literary veil to see if there IS any validity to supposed "fables."

No disrespect meant in the above statements to you sir.

    Thank you, Hellas1 :original:

Yes, female steppe warriors did exist (there are literary connections between the Amazons and the Scythians, notably in the writings of Lysias), and no doubt formed the basis for the myths about the Amazons. However, that does not mean that the Amazons from myth existed! I doubt very highly that there was actually a race of women who subdued their male Gazaran neighbours and forced them to join with them in an annual group copulation to provide the Amazons with new children (the male children were apparently sent to join the Gazarans). Though there were female steppe warriors, they would have formed part of a society in which men were dominant.

Pardon me, if might indulge a little.

The Amazons (amazones, gk.) are a literary embellishment, I agree However....
there were prominent female rulers in ancient times, ie. Egypt, Brittania, and I would say in the Steppe societies too. Much of history focuses on male rulers, I wonder why women were constantly left out?

Let's not forget that today's mindset is largely skewed by largely viewing women as "objects," not people, and definitely NOT leaders or rulers, whereas in ancient times, things were different.

    Kinda like Pre-Suffrage times (women rulers cool)-Suffrage Dark Ages(Ancient Greece/Rome & Medieval Era)-Suffrage Renaissance(Victorian era England & U.S. with Sojourner Truth & Sue B.)-Post Feminist Nazi Suffrage era(Gloria Steinem & others)

    Riiight?

Oh right, so the Amazon all-female society on the River Thermodon must have existed then. Silly me.

Sorry, but female leaders is one thing, an all female society is quite different ( i think you agree with us there). The Amazons of myth did not exist. Like Zenith said however, they were most likely based off Scythians. I also think that modern society would view history in a much more open minded way than in the past, so if the amazons did exist people wouldn't pretend that they didn't just to fit in with their preconceptions like you suggest.

    Dear Zenith,

I don't mean to belittle or dis you sir.

It's just that so many times, people read something written in antiquity and dismiss everything, not
    critically looking into it.

That's all I meant gentlemen. :original:

P.S. I'm greek so: "Na me sinhorisis, de thelo paraxegisis oute na se doulepso file"

ZhugeLiange-Thank you for this wonderful mod sir, sorry to see you go

No problem. By the way, could you put that into Classical Greek for me? My modern Greek is a little ropey!
