Icon1 Win7 KGCM steam install upto and including Patch3.0 instructions

So this is my first ever post. not that experienced at doing mods or getting them to work. After several trials (just couldn't stand the vanilla game, and got bored of Shogun2) so I went back to this (I have played RTW for every faction at least twice).....and found what appeared to be a great mod. So here is how I got it all to work on win7 for a medieval/kingdoms steam download.

How to install KGCM for steam.

    Unpacked the medieval packs.

Install 3.0 via the installer into programs (x86) - it found my steam/steamapps/common folder and installed into it automatically.

Perform the Launcher/Kingdoms switch/fix stated somewhere in the TwC tech tread except do not do the @... in steam.

Unpacked the KGCM files once they are installed.

Run the game, try a campaign, make sure it works. (I honestly cant remember what steps I took to allow the game to run KGCM through steam. I have the kindome.exe, launcher.exe, and the medieval2.exe files all in the main directory.

Then: TURN steam the **** off. Do not let it run - if it runs while installing the patches (at least in my previous attempts) it prevents a proper install (even if it finishes)

Install Patch 1.0 into the Medieval folder under steam/steamapps/common (not the mod folder), then run the game, try a campaign, make sure it works.

Then: TURN steam the **** off. Do not let it run - if it runs while installing the patches (at least in my previous attempts) it prevents a proper install (even if it finishes)

Install Patch 2.0 via the exe installer into Medieval folder under steam/steamapps/common (not the mod folder), then run the game, try a campaign, maker sure it works.

Then TURN steam the **** off. Do not let it run - if it runs while installing the patches (at least in my previous attempts) it prevents a proper install (even if it finishes)

Then install Patch 3.0 via the installer into Medieval folder MOD FOLDER!!!! under steam/steamapps/common, then run the game, try a campaign, maker sure it works.

Then launch steam, select kingdoms, the launcher should pop up, select KGCM (it showed up for me, on all four game starts, initial 3.0, patch1, patch2, and patch3). Wait for it to load the game and enjoy....

I have not played through an entire game, so can't say for sure that everything works. But all the factions do show up on the launch screen and no major defects found.

I also started from a fresh steam dowload of medieval and kingdoms (no other mods present)

Also my .cfg files do not contain the "[io] file_first" statement.

Also, i unpacked both the medieval packs and the KGCM files once they were installed.
Somewhere in there I also converted the bin files to text using the converter......

Sorry if there is something is missing but I finally got it all to work....at least for now.

Also I am running Win7 64bit, installed to my primary drive C:, and am using i7 2600K, so virtually no lagging/long loads/long AI turns....
