Since it's still sorta kinda Halloween someone recommend me some newish horrors, that is to say movie released in the past decade.

I'm currently watching Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon atm and I'm going to watch Grave Encounters and the Bunker later.

While they are not horror movies by any means, and are quite old, i suggest watching either Salo, or The Audition. These movies can get quite disturbing at times. This year isn't the year for horror movies, not many have been released this year that are of particular interest.

Eraserhead is one you should see. Definitely an interesting piece of film that is quite disturbing at times as well

I watched Insidious earlier and although it had a few jumpy bits, it wasn't very scary. Well it probably is but I couldn't help but laugh due to the antagonists similarities to a certain Star Wars villain.

The worst thing is that Darth Maul was actually scarier looking than the demon...

Why can't they ever make legit looking Hieronymous Bosch stuff?

I mean can you imagine how scary that would be? Hell I was kind of freaked out by Pan's Labyrinth and that wasn't even a horror movie. Bosch would be like twice as dark and gruesome. I mean you go to see that sort of movie on hallucinogens and you may literally die.

Stake Land was a great never heard anything about so had no expectations going in Vampire Apoc. movie. 1 stupid part toward the end to an all and all surprisingly good movie.

Didn't care for 30 days either, Interview is another great one. John Carpenters only because of James Woods imo.

I am Legend was a pretty good horror suspense infected Apoco movie.(this is a very popular movie though so you have probably seen it)

Reccomended this one in the other movie thread: Pontypool
Another below the radar infected movie.

I've read the plot for "A Serbian Film" on wikipedia, and it's pretty god damn brutal. I don't know why, but despite everything I've read and heard, I really want to see it, curiosity I suppose.

There was a Japanese version, but I didn't find it compelling. Some of the Japanese horror doesn't translate well, though of course that's the well from which lots of American remakes come from: Ringu, the Grudge, Dark Water.
I can only imagine that a Japanese Paranormal film would make me a hole through the floor.

I did love Paranormal Activity 1 and 2 so the third one should be good. I liked the alt ending for the first one best, with the cops but that wasn't canon since it precluded the second movie.

Let Me In isn't too bad. Not really a horror film, more like Twilight, but excellently directed.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

I saw the original Swedish version of that. An odd movie, based on an odd book where the old man looking after the little vampire is a pederast. Though in the movie you saw that the vampire girl was actually genderless.
