    Hey
just wonder, any of you finished or played the biggest part of campaign for Austria? first 30 steps it just defending from french, no joint battles, only Kutuzov is sometimes comming to help so just curious, any changes in later game? battlefields in conquered Prussia or winter campaign to Russia? or it will be just stuck on austrian borders and Napoleon will try and try to reach Viena, as it was one of the first goals in French campaign.

I go for Poland-Lithuania, then Prussia.

I then wipeout all those smaller German nations, then I pounce the French.

^yes he is. 1 army in munich 1 in venice and send the rest towards ottomans. Once the ottomans are crushed (I did attacked french way before but I figure most will prefer to wait) begin your offensive into France. Once you reach say, Marseilles/ Alsace Lorraine line your allies will begin declaring war on you. Its then up to your armies and you.

If you can pounce the Ottomans, Istanbul and Athens both become amazing recruitment centers that you can land on the Italian front or even behind the French into Bordeaux, Rennes, Caen, or even Brussels.

    Hey
First of all, are you playing the Long or short campaign ? And what difficulty lvl ?
Lets choose the long campaing and hard lvl.
There are 5 major priorities you have to keep in mind for the start.
First, have 1 well equip army (meaning 6+ armies statues including 3 cannons if possible) in Vienna. France probably will came soon to take your Capital.
Second, have Hunguary and start asap producing Fusilers and Grenadiers. They can fight much better and you will be much better against France.
Third, fight and push backwards the Ottoman Empire. Have Greece under your control. I can't say if you will be able to take Konstantinoupoli / Instaboul. You will need to give precious time there and France is much greater threat. Against Ottoman , German Fusilers can do decent their task and you don't need to invest Hungarian troops there.
Fourth, Keep Venice under your control. France will try to capture it and try to flank you from both sides. Have 3-4 cannons regiments among with your rest of your armies. Napoleon will chose to come to Vienna and let other Generals to come to Venice. You will be able to capture 2-3 regions (North Italy) if you win the France there.
Fifth, Keep trade aggrement with Prussia and Russia by all means (minor nations as well).

Doing this you will have much better % to procced with your campaing.

    Regards

    Thanks for the replay

Im trying to stick to the history in the game as much as possible I played for russians till 58 turn, and its all the same - France just trying to conquer Austria and didnt stopped when I moved my russian armies back and let them have Viena. According to French missions, after capture of Viena there must be campaign to Moscow or Berlin. But nothing changed - french just trying to get all other regions of Austria instead of peace treaty with Austria and looking to other enemies. How can I bring the war into the Poland, as it was according to history?

    My thoughts:

    1. Should I force Prussia to start war with France? than french will have access through Silesia to Poland and Russia? In peace time France cant cross Prussia lands.

    2. Should I wait for year 1812, when according to history, Napoleon started Russian campaign?

    3. Should I play as I doing it now - trying to force all nations to stick to historical frames (etc. reconquer other provinces and giving back to former masters).

Should I abandom my hope that AI will be interested in historical missions or battle fronts? ..

A.I does not follow history unfortunately.
Best option to enjoy Napoleon, is to play the campaign map against a friend opponent, but this could be hard to be made

I will try it in this way - conquering small nations between france and prussia and selling it to the french, than pay to the prussia solid amount for joining war against France (its possible) and vuala - the second front will be established. hope this will help to extend military actions through the Europe

    thanks for your replays guys

Just make Switzerland, Wuttemburg, and the western italian state your protectorates and you'll break the French advance in a heartbeat, then deal with the ottomans before the russians do.

I agree. Make sure you have 'a line of protectorates' in front of your own empire. In my campaign the line of protectorates are the following nations: Italy(Turin), Swiss Confederation & Baden-Württemberg, the regions above Baden-Württemberg are Prussian territory and the Batavian Republic(in the northwest) which I will make my protectorate soon too I think. With this line of protectorates you can easily build up an army and focus on a campaign against the Ottomans and other nations, and France of course.
I do not know why but France rarely declares war on protectorates, and if France does, the protectorates have large armies already, which gives you enough time to help.

I find it unrealistic to have the Republic of Italy as a protectorate, as Austria was completely against the existence of such a state. Instead, I wanted to opt for the creation of Piedmont-Sardinia again, yet you can't liberate Sardinia and they're unlikely to be made vassal to you, so I think I'll have to simply settle for an alliance and give them Piedmont. I always liberate Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg and occasionally the Swiss Confederation. I hope to also liberate Belgium and give them the Netherlands and Alsace-Lorraine as a large buffer zone.
